Art: Spent most of the 80's and early 90's in the New Wave/Alt Rock scene during which he met Space Cossacks rhythm guitarist Mark "Hellcat" English who re-introduced him to the surf genre. He loves the Cossacks driving sound, but is also heavily influenced by Godly inspirations, the Beatles, Los Indios Tabajaros, UK's Gerry Anderson Supermarionation TV shows , and the Cars. He writes most of the lead guitar lines, but Joe, Jim and Jeremy supply a lot of creative direction and storylines for the songs. - - - - - -
Joe: Keith Richards, Link Wray, Ramones and other 80's punk, Hawaiian, lounge, and bluegrass. Joe comes from a roots music background (Cajun, zydeco, blues, country, old timey), so the stuff he write tends to be more danceable and less abstract than a lot of surf. Lots of pull-offs and hammer- ons in his playing too; might as well be Doc Watson. - - - - - -
Jim: Zappa, XTC and other '80's new wave, blues, Hawaiian (uke!), ska, swing, and top-notch cheese like Annette Funicello. Never misses a James Bond marathon on TNT either, so there's a little spy-fi in his musical arsenal as well. - - - - - -
Jeremy: The first two Bread albums.

Pick up the new album "ANGLE OF ATTACK" at CD Baby or iTunes!
Reverb Galaxy, a Maryland-based quartet that literally wears it's reverb on it's sleeve. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, as the nine originals in Angle of Attack illustrate. All four members have a hand in the songwriting, but Strat-wielding lead guitarist Art Svrjcek leads the way-from the angular opener "Invasion", to his melodic nod to Hank Marvin "In the Shadow's Shadow". It is, in fact the strength and variety of the compositions that impress most here-which considering the band's tightness and Svrjcek's big tone, is saying a lot. This, thankfully, is not a collection of riffs in search of a melody-the trap too many neo-surfers fall into. If the Ventures, were still in the practice of mining regional bands' repertoires for material they would do well to check out Reverb Galaxy.
Three Stars, New Gandy Dancer- Feb 2009
By Davy
New name with a decent album of strong original material here in a surf space vein. Much high twanging and tom tom races us into the album with a fun "Invasion" before an equally melodic, clean "Balkan Stomp". "10 Miles to Nagshead" is a lovely slower piece a la very early Ventures while "In the Shadow's Shadow" is a jolly toe-tapper with super clean guess what, UK guitar lead sound. "La Cantina" is a well produced Mexican guitar ride- all instruments sounding neatly produced and "Sinister Island" is an uptempo almost James Bond thriller. Dick Dale mode for "Dark Pulsar" leading to the modern "Revvin' the Woodie". This very pleasant, none offensive set is completed by a lovely gentle "Blue Sunset"- another good original...

"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
