About me: I am an author and university lecturer. My newest book Imaginary Futures traces the political history of the Internet and will be released by Pluto Press this spring. I have spent the last four years researching and writing Imaginary Futures, and I know that for the powerful forces that control the Internet today, this may be one book they don't want you to read. Other works I have published include numerous essays on the clash between commerce and cooperation within the Internet, including “The Hi-Tech Gift Economy”, “Cyber-communism”, “The Regulation of Liberty” and, with Andy Cameron and “The Californian Ideology”, published in 1995 it was a controversial critique of the neo-liberal politics of Wired magazine. My most recent book was about social groups shaping the information society, The Class of the New (2006). During the early 1980s, I was involved in pirate and community radio broadcasting and helped establish Spectrum Radio, a multi-lingual station in London, and published extensively on radio issues. Between 1995 and 2005, I coordinated the pioneering Hypermedia Research Centre at the University of Westminster and was course leader of its MA in Hypermedia Studies, the first of its kind on offer in Britain. I studied at Cambridge, Essex and Kent Universities, and currently I am a Senior Lecturer of Politics at the University of Westminster.
Dear friend! I'm happy to announce The new free releases from MOX!
Monstaar Records has re-released his debut album «Insects» (originally 2002). MOX gives an opportunity to explore his bizarre and captivating worlds, blending ambient, dub, IDM, Warpwise electronica with elements of hip-hop, house, classical minimalism and humour – that was reflected in «Insects» in full measure. Currently, but within a limited period of time, "Insects" is free-downloadable - http://www.monstaar.com/free/. Hurry up!
Mrs Vee has released a joint album of MOX and Pitch «Intoxicated Divinity». The tracks on the album don't belong to one style (all music is electronic and experimental, though) – there's things of dub with kraut-rock bias, Eno-ish instrumentals, glitch, downtempo, dark-ambient, house and more. The cover uses the original picture by Pitch. «Intoxicated Divinity» is free for download . You only are to register to get it - http://www.mrsveerecordings.co.uk/audvee30/register.php
Dear friend! Please regard it as a Christmas present. New album of MOX «Early Ganglions» is out now on Mrs Vee. 11 tracks of highly expressive material - miscellaneous and lush constellations of what MOX thinks (or thought) of trip-hop, dub, tribal, electronica, noisecore, abstract, psycho-lounge and illbient. Free download, just click the cover.
