Born in Trinidad, Richie Redz (Richard R. Questel) grew up in Gonzales,
Belmont, Port-Of-Spain, where he also attended both primary and secondary school.
His love for music came at a young age listening to his parents record collection which comprised of various genres which included Pop, Disco, Soul, Calypso, Soca and Reggae to name a few.
During school he developed a talent for writing and loved it.
However, it was in secondary school where he met classmate Al George (with whom he’s still friends today) who introduced him to Rap Music.
He then turned his attention to writing lyrics for Hip Hop, highlighting through music the
everyday life of a teenager in comical ways.
His love for his country and music has inspired him not only to continue writing but to write about the people and place about which he feels passionate.
For him Soca Music is more than just a different genre, it’s a deep rooted culture that has been sown into the hearts of the people of the Caribbean.
Today he has collaborated with the very talented producers, instrumentalist Supa Soul Brotha Del and Stylah of Iron Fist Productions to bring to you his very own style of Soca Music.
New to the Soca scene he hopes to deliver an energetic sound and an electrifying performance to Soca lovers around the globe.
At the moment he is currently working on tracks for his first album to be released in the near future entitled “Sexy/Sweet/Soca/Sound”.
The tracks on the album will range from up-tempo “jump up” songs to “feel good” groovy tunes.
How would one describe Richie Redz?
He is a very talented and ambitious man with a lot to share musically with the Soca loving community. He is a very down to earth guy with a great sense of humour who likes to lime, have a drink and socialize like any other Trinidadian.
