Born and raised by a single mother in an East Scarborough metro housing community,
Richie Sosa was not surrounded by the best environment to influence his youth. From a young age, it was already
evident to those around him that he was highly creative and energetic. Sosa was a brilliant student but had a
difficult time staying out of trouble and found himself in and out of jail for a lengthy period of his late teenage
years. After struggling with the law for time in and out, Sosa realized the changes that were needed in his life, and
decided to pursue his passion in music. A life steered by violence left Richie Sosa as the only member of his
immediate family (with the exception of his half brother) and was the fuel that propelled him away from the
dangerous lifestyle. Sosa vowed to use his musical talents as a means to better his own life and that of his
family.
After getting together with Toronto hip-hop veterans: Madloxx and Bobby Cox, as well as future
super producers, Soundsmith Productions (producers of Young Jeezy, G-Unit, Fabolous etc), Sosa began to master
his craft. By 2005, Sosa reached local success through singles on local FM and college radio stations. His career
started buzzing throughout the city of Toronto and its surrounding areas.
In 2006, backed up by immediate talent and long time fans and friends, Richie Sosa launched The Count Money
Cartel: a group of talented individuals working together to not only put out good music, but also provide the basis
for a successful future in music and arts. To this day, CMC encompasses entrepreneurs in the field of music
production, engineering, marketing and promotions, photography and street promotions among many others. With
the help of American marketing giant and longtime friend of the legendary Justo Faison, Cool V, Richie Sosa
released his first international single ‘Get It Crackin,” which was distributed to various record pools not only in
Canada, but across the US and overseas as well such as TJs DJs, Bumsquad, Vinyl Breakers, Dixie Land
Dancekings, True School DJs, Fleet DJs and Heavyweight DJ’s among many others. It also gained the attention of
executive writer, Octavia Bostik of ALLHIPHOP.COM as well as various media outlets and radio stations. Richie
Sosa’s international buzz quickly grew exponentially as he found himself on charts in countries as far as Israel, The
Netherlands, and Germany to name a few.
2007 found Richie Sosa forming a partnership with Justo award winning rapper and Bronx NY
native, Remo Da Rapstar. As owner of All City Distribution, America’s largest mixtape distribution company, Remo
helped Sosa launch his career in the American mixtape circuit. After a tremendous response to their record “Don’t
talk about it,” Remo and Sosa started to put in work on their radio single. Enter “I Bang”; a furious street single
produced by CMC’s in-house Soundsmith Productions, that is as real and gritty as one can ask for. With the help of
Remo and Cool V “I Bang” garnered 450 spins on Eminem’s Shade 45 and NY’s Hot97 by some of the industry’s
biggest DJ’s, including DJ Whoo Kid, DJ Absolute, DJ Clue, DJ Green Lantern, DJ Wiz, DJ Fathom da Waxx Cutter,
Dj Skee, DJ Big Mike and many more. The song was the first single off of Remo’s sophomore street album “One Hit
Away” hosted by DJ Big Mike. The song was also featured on over 150 mixtapes within the USA including DJ Big
Mike, DJ Khaled, as well as the only north artists to have a spot on the most popular mixtape of the year, DJ
Drama’s “Gangsta Grillz 16.” The single instantly blew Sosa’s career to new heights making him one of the most
sought after exports Canada has to offer in the rap game.
Currently Richie Sosa is working on his debut ground breaking innovative, solo album which
could possibly be released through a major deal. Understanding that the public is not satisfied with the ability to
rap as an only talent, Sosa is determined to bring a whole package to the table. With an impeccable business sense
and passionate drive, Sosa is predisposed to leave his mark in the music industry for years to come.
