Royal Park Cellars - 2nd March - the line-up includes: -
Ric Neale – Ric is a singer songwriter based in Leeds. His two albums 'Ric Neale Hasn’t Heard of You Either' and 'Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time' showcase his heartfelt, timeless tunesmithery. Ric and his band appeared last year at The Music Guru third anniversary acoustic night.
Michelle Plum – Who will be fresh from her trip to Thailand and a gig there at Chiang Mai. A former Waking The Witch and live Chumbawamba young lady played a wonderful set for us at Dr. Wu’s last year and hopefully will reproduce it again for us at The Royal Park Cellars.
Decree – Two young ladies and a young gentleman. Finalists in last year's Bright Young Things competition, Decree are folk, acoustic rock in vein and execution, with delicate sounds of the djembe permeating from their set to give an added edge to the overall proceedings.
Hannah Wilson – A young lady pianist with a quite breathtakingly sharp and powerful voice completes the line-up. She, like all the acts tonight, is definitely someone to keep an ear out for.
To celebrate hubby's birthday, we are having a little soiree for him at the Primrose on 2nd October. It should be a really fun night with Shatner, Pilla, Silverlode, Spencer Bayles and Odi on the bill providing some fun and entertainment and hopefully a few surprises in store.
£3 entry however yours truly is providing catering so there will be cake, sandwiches, sausage rolls, may be vol au vents as well as balloons, party poppers and cheesy CD to acompany the proceedings.
It would be good to see as many of you guys down to try and take away the pain of Mr O's impending middle agehood!!
Come and support the Trouble at 'Mill night at The Burley Liberal Club this Saturday night which will include live music and DJ sets. Proceeds are kindly being donated to Cloth Cat so massive thanks from us for their help. It's £3 in on the door and open til late
Sunday 23rd September – The Music Guru Acoustic Night Shaun T. Hunter + ODi + Ric Neale + Ashley Hicklin + Man & Wife. Settle down to an evening of acoustic entertainment, on the final night of three gigs. This cover of Run to the Hills is a bit disapointing. I know you said to arrange them different and not just play the original song acoustic but you didn't even get any of the lyrics right =(
yeah thanks, he just confused me because I usually just use them within the key and not as a key so I couldn't think what scales and chords might be used in the 10 seconds before he turned the cd player on.
Hi Ric, I was in my grade 8 exam and he told me the key of a piece was in A, then said "no wait it's not, it's in B mixolydian which is like A I suppose." I don't get how it is though, can you explain it to me please? Mixolydian in A starts on E. Will he have meant cos they've got all the same notes apart from D# and not D in mixolydian? Thanks if you reply.
Hi Rik, just realised I'm supporting you on Saturday in Dr Wu's! How strange, it's certainly a small world this musical one. See you then! I have my cellist this time x x x
