NEW RELEASE FOR 2009
"DOOM GENERATOR EP"
Produced by Ripchain
Engineering and mastering by Andy A. at Project 7 in Boise, Idaho
WE'RE NOT HAPPY AND WE'RE NOT CUTE. WE'RE HEAVY FUCKING METAL.
- The Boise Beat - 1/12/2008
"Ripchain announced their presence before they began playing. A neon-lit assault-rifle was mounted on one of their amps, and their guitars were adorned with camouflage and attached to chain-straps or bandoliers full of bullets. Even before their first song, Ripchain oozed an authentic metal vibe."
- The Boise Beat - 1/12/2008
"There's no other way to say it: Ripchain took no prisoners. Their Sabbath and Slayer- soaked attack was thick, sincere and never predictable. Ripchain played orc killing, church burning heavy metal, with all of the furious riffing and double bass thunder that entailed.Their slower moments were welcome, too. Atmospheric, eerie and punishing, these passages created images of viking ships crewed by skeleton warriors, rowing toward their own doom."
DISCLAIMER: "we do not condone church burning, that is a violent act of terrrorism, don't even think about it!" (we do however condone the burning of our songs onto disc so you can share them with your friends...A LOT)
BAND BIO
In the summer of 2004 a group of metal heads in Boise, Idaho (around 8 o’clock) came together to make some noise. The sound they created is defined as modern hard rock built on a solid foundation of old school heavy metal.
David Sean Ford, a rebel of the old school teachings of Metallica, Slayer and Black Sabbath provides lead vocals and rhythm guitar. His lyrics cut through the mix with clarity and attitude. Joff Stone, a student of Godsmack, Black Label Society and Stuck Mojo handles lead guitar duties and backing vocals. On stage, Stone performs a well-rehearsed “ballet” as he skillfully operates his footswitches, plays guitar and sings. Dan Garrett, inspired by bass players such as Geezer Butler and Geddy Lee was a shoe-in for the role. Reflective of his persona, Garrett’s bass tones are dark and full of mischief. Due to his tall, intimidating stature he was dubbed “ The Saskwatch”. (Not to mention… he’s really hairy.) Tony Cornia rounds out the quartet of mayhem with ferocity and attitude, two qualities that earned him the nickname "The Animal". His tremendous rhythms and thunderous kicks are like a punch to the throat that effectively provide sinister dynamics to every song.
Ripchain’s style emerges from the mix of personalities in the group. All four members share a core belief: IT IS ABOUT THE BAND and IT IS ABOUT THE SONG, it is NEVER about the individual. Arrangements are discussed and ideas are played with. The egos are at the door and the beer is in the fridge.
RIPCHAIN performs dozens of local shows and has been blasting their rhythmic hooks across the Northwest. They've had the privilege of opening for STATIC-X, OTEP and INVITRO on two dates of the Cannibal Killers tour in 2007. They also have opened for SOULS OF WE, BURN HALO, PRONG (twice), OPIATE FOR THE MASSES, BAPTIZED BY FIRE, WEDNESDAY 13,
FINGER ELEVEN, BROKEN TEETH, and have shared the RTM stage with
3 INCHES OF BLOOD.
