Rise of the Footsoldier follows the inexorable rise of Carlton Leach from one of the most feared generals of the football terraces to becoming a member of a notorious gang of criminals who rampaged their way through London and Essex in the late eighties and early nineties.
It is three decades of his life following him from football hooliganism, through to his burgeoning career as a bouncer, his involvement in the criminal aspects of the early ‘rave’ scene and subsequently to his rise to power as one of the most feared and respected criminals in the country.
The story concludes with three members of his firm being brutally murdered in the infamous shot-gun slaying at Rettenden.

"Rise of the Footsoldier" LIVE at Oceana will be a fundraising event with the aim of raising money for Help For Heroes on the evening of Sunday 14th December 2008, Oceana Nightclub, Plymouth.
With a seconded Evening Help For Heroes on the Sunday 21st December 2008, The Venue Nightclub, Torquay.
Entertainment will be provided by the UK's Top DJ's John Kelly, Sonique and Pete Morrell with a special appearance by young talented soloist Loredana Martino singing "Hero".
There has been a huge interest from the local media including The Plymouth Evening Herald and BBC Radio Devon. Carlton will be holding a telephone interviews with Plymouth Sound along with a news story.
Oceana nightclub has a 3000 capacity and the event is set to be a sell out. There will be a VIP suite available, 3 internal bars/dance floors and audio visual display units throughout the club.
We will be inviting some special guests from 42 Commando Royal Marines and 29 Commando Royal Artillery who served in Afghanistan and Iraq as a thank you for what they have done for our country.
