Influences
as of late... gravenhurst rules my stereo along w/ Ida, low, arvo part, kozlek-redhousepainters-skm, miles davis, the kingsbury manx... my first influence as a kid was ringo star. i discoverd leonard cohen and nick drake shortly after my first album (97). i love cohen for his lyrical strengths and musically on his early albums, nick drake simply because he keeps me calm and i just never get tired of him. what else... tom waits, lou reed, cash and dylan, ray charles, the eels, death cab, jeremy enigk-sunny, neil halstead, mojave 3, iron and wine... also folks like suzanne vega, mark eitzel, bruce cockburn and mark heard for their lyrical minds.
**** literature influences me a lot: william carlos williams, the old and new testament, ts elliot, the beats, dylan thomas, c.s. lewis, chesterton, dostoevsky....
SO MY FRIEND LILI dragged me onto myspace... id rather keep it personal, so if you want the "bio" check the other site cause i don't feel like doing the ego thing here. ** ABOUT ME: i now live in seattle, married w/two cats. my ancestry is welsh... id like to think im related to dylan thomas but the closest i can get is a great uncle who was as a bar tender on the titanic when it went down - naturally i like rainy dock towns and write music that has been described as melancholic.
as to friend invites: i don't send em unless i know you, ad yourself - i'm honored unless you're a myspace porn star or band i've never heard of.
* I no longer respond to ad requests from bands - email instead *

While cleaning the garage yesterday we found the old Days Like These T-shirt that you had given to God-daughter many years ago; this T had the bicycle design on it.
a customer came in today at my coffee shop, and said she went to a great show at the triple door, and loooooved the opener!! hehe, i was like, was it robert deeble! and she replied with yes. so you have a new fan out there!
oh yeah... just thought I would throw out a couple of other musical acts I like that you might like (if you don't already)... Kings of Convenience and also... My Brightest Diamond
KOC are more acoustic and MBD is led by a classically trained girl who also is trained in opera singing. she takes a bit of that and adds elements of rock as well.
