In an era when commercial rap has saturated the market and hip hop has shed away from lyricists, breaking into the industry has become quite a challenge for artists such as Speed “Buggs tha Rocka” Walton III, who brings a sound that is so refreshing when real music has become so foreign to true music lovers. Born February 16, 1985, this Cincinnati native took a liking to a wide range of music as he grew up in a full house of family members from Big Mom to his dog Demon. However, his immediate attention was struck by Sudsy Malone, a nearby venue with live music from rock and jazz bands, which helped him to gain a true appreciation for all genres of music. And after walking half a mile to Kip’s Record Arcade with just enough money to purchase his first rap album, Life After Death by Notorious B.I.G., it is no wonder Walton has mastered an original and clever mix of hip hop and rock. In 2003, Walton went on to attend his first year at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. He soon realized that attempting to stay away from the world of hip hop was not attainable and a creative outlet was crucial as his mind filled with various verses instead of the necessary homework assignments from his college courses. Refusing to waste any more time, Walton decided to move on and solely focus on his passion to create his craft. Although only in his early 20s, Walton has a mature music selection with a great love for late 90s hip hop. With influencers such as Andre 3000, Missy Elliott, Pharrell, and Maroon 5, Walton decided to allow his rhymes to be filled with what he knew best: himself and his experiences. Still a kid at heart with an intense love for cartoons, video games, and comic books, he created an animated flow that is lyric driven with a pop influence to reach all consumers. In an extreme short period of time, Walton has managed to collaborate and open up shows for the likes of Method Man, Red Man, Freeway, Tanya Morgan, and Little Brother. With a strong drive and never ignoring his dreams, he has become a sound that has grown tremendously from the headphones of friends to the local Cincinnati radio station, Wiz 101.1. However in September 2008, Walton achieved his proudest moment when he released the track “Get Away” featuring Little Brother which gets consistent plays in both Cincinnati and London; proving his eclectic sound of consciousness and reality is a voice that the people want to hear. When asked where he saw himself in five years, Walton simply replied, “A household name and shining star in pop culture.” With his lucky Ninja Turtle consistently by his side and the highly anticipated album "JOB WELL DONE" soon to hit the mainstream, Buggs tha Rocka is an artist to look out for and embrace as he brings a voice versus a hot beat back to hip hop while introducing a whole new style of music to the world. untittled @ gypsy hut 5/12/09
