An infectious mix of soul, funk, blues, reggae and English quirkiness,
Rocket number 9 have been rattling the rooftiles at gigs throughout London, including a headline performances at The Bedford in Balham, gig of the month at The Half Moon in Putney, and many appearances at Brixton Jamm and the Cross Kings and elsewhere in the south east.
The bands line-up, completed in April 2008, is a classic four piece comprising singer-songwriters and brothers Ed (keyboards and vocals) and Tim (guitars and vocals), joined by George (bass) and Mark (drums). They are often joined by friends on horns Tom Spencer, trumpet (The layers), Martin Shultz on tenor sax ,and alto saxophonist and backing vocalist Mr Jules.
Committed to honest songwriting where musicianship and improvisation explodes around tight catchy melodies the band records all their own material at their musical home - RSR (rocket science records).
Recently Greekie Lion (BBC radio) has been collaborating with Rocket Number 9 on the track 'Doing what you do' and has become their voice across BBC radio and beyond. Greekie also helps out with management, security and promotion.
Rocket Number 9 are currently recording their debut album and are making appearances at Greenfest (London) and IVO Giant Garden festival in Sweden this summer 2009.
