ROCKWiRED's
ViDEO TO WATCH FOR: ARDEN KAYWiN - 'LET
iT GO'
Not
only has singer songwriter ARDEN KAYWIN surprised the hell out of us
with the release of her glorious sophomore release 'THE ELEPHANT IN THE
ROOM', but she has us intrigued with the visuals of the video for the
album's slinky first cut 'LET IT GO'. ROCKWIRED couldn't think of a
better way to kick off our 'VIDEO TO WATCH FOR...' series. Click the

COVER
ME
ROCKWIRED
PICKS IT'S TEN
FAVORITE ALBUM COVERS OF 2008
Back
when I was a kid it was the visuals of rock music that grabbed my
attention before the music did. I knew who BLONDIE was solely on the
strength of that unforgettable cover of their 1978 masterpiece
'PARALLEL
LINES'. It was an image that leaped out at me at such a young age and
has stuck with me to this day; the image of the sneering semi-peroxided
bombshell DEBORAH HARRY in a white evening dress with her be-suited,
grinning band at her side standing in front of the titular black and
white parallel lines. It was amazing all of the things you could fit
onto a 78". In an age where getting
this song
from here
and
this song from there
and downloading it all onto an i-pod (still haven't bought one) is the
common mode for taking in music, albums have definitely taken a hit and
along with it, the
art of the album cover. It's
hard to say what the future of the L.P. is going to be, but I am
positive that people haven't abandoned it completely. In the past year,
ROCKWIRED showcased dozens of new artists, and there were a few notable
releases containing artwork that gave me hope that the art of the album
is still there. (READ

GIVE

LOGIC TALKS
TO ROCKWIRED ABOUT
HIS CD ETERNAL DOING
SHOWS WITH THE
YIN YANG TWINS
AND DJ
QUIK AND
TAKING HIS CAREER TO THE NEXT LEVEL
At
the age of twenty five, rapper LOOSE LOGIC (IAN WESTBROOK) has picked a
surprisingly young age to take stock and inventory of his career. His
latest release, 'ETERNAL', is a 19 track opus which according to the
pretty fly white guy documents his life up to this point. While the CD
is comprised of new material, some tracks from his 2007 release 'BEFORE
THE STORM' return for an encore such as 'R.I.P.', 'CALI SHIT' and the
grand epic 'BEAUTIFUL'. and get this - the CD is free! In a genre of
music that is all about keeping your mind on the money the money on
your mind, it seemed especially curious to me why a fella like LOGIC
would wanna put his latest release out there for nothing. "I'm
starting to work on a new album right now and I wanted to do a concept
album for a very long time and I just felt like there were a lot of
songs that I had done in the past that wouldn't see the light of day
and
I wanted them to have the chance to do that because I really love the
songs." says LOGIC. "I liked what these songs had to say and I felt
like people
needed to hear them now while they are relevant. That isn't to say that
I don't think that the songs will lose their relevance. I think they
will hold up as time passes but it is something that I just felt that I
needed to get out."

FRICKIN' BLESSED SARAH HETHCOAT TALKS TO ROCKWIRED ABOUT HER
DEBUT E.P. 'NOBODY LIKES A BULLY' WORKING
WITH PRODUCER DAVE COBB AND MAKING
MUSIC ON HER OWN TERMS Clearly
I caught singer songwriter SARAH HETHCOAT during a flurry of
activity. She talks a thousand words a minute about the electronic
release of her latest E.P., the curiously titled 'NOBODY LIKES A BULLY'
and of the series of live shows that her and her
band have
done throughout Los Angeles and the hope of taking the act on the road
within the next couple of months. After listening to "NOBODY..',
HETHCOAT's excitement seems well deserved. With only six songs,
HETHCOAT kicks things off with the teasing mid sixties sounding
beat rocker 'I HATE YOU' and the slamming mid tempo pop of 'I
GOT
YOU'. With 'GONE', HEATHCOAT displays a rather lovely LAURA
NYRO-styled urgency, and 'LOVE TRAP' showcases a SHERYL CROW
type
narrative of nightlife gone right. Produced by DAVE COBB (CHRIS
CORNELL, BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB), 'NOBODY...' - according to
HETHCOAT - is only a taste of things to come. "DAVE just offered a
totally amazing
perspective for me." says HETHCOAT "Once we got together in the studio
the whole process was just
honest and organic and we didn't over think anything. It was just a lot
of fun. It was a really cool recording experience with no drama. It was
really fun and honest and we knew right from the get go, what we were
going to do. We wrote a couple of tunes and had a lot of fun. We were
like two kids in a playground. It was a lot of fun and I can't wait to
do
it again."(READ

2008 HYBRID MIKE SINGLETON OF OUTTASITE
TALKS TO ROCKWIREDABOUT
THEIR LATEST CD 'CAREFUL WHAT
YOU WISH FOR'
WORKING WITH SIR MIX-A-LOT
AND PUTTING PEOPLE IN A GOOD MOOD The
term 'rap-metal' has often left a bad taste in my mouth. It brings to
mind the antics of white boys wanting to break shit for no reason,
college girls flashing their tits and FRED DURST shouting a bunch of
nursery rhyme-styled nasty nothings into a microphone. Having been
raised on the more mannered alternative music of MTV's long canceled
120 MINUTES, rap-metal, to me, was like the loud, drunk, noisy,
obnoxious neighbor that never moved away. Initially, I was nervous
when putting OUTTASITE's SIR MIX-A-LOT-produced CD 'CAREFUL
WHAT
YOU WISH FOR' into my CD player, but after listening to the CD's stand
out tracks PASS IT AROUND, NO NEVERMIND, and the funky title track, it
was clear that OUTTASITE (rapper MIKE SINGLETON and guitarist JOE
DAVILA) have eschewed FRED DURST buffoonery and have taken a lesson
from the forefathers of rap and rock fusion- RUN DMC. "I
was trying to find that
perfect sonic blend of hip hop and rock n roll riffs because I wanted
to find that combination that I don't think anyone has really
obtained." says SINGLETON.
"I didn't want to sound like the rock band with a dj or the rapper with
the metal band."(READ

JASON GRAHAM OF TAXI DOLL
TALK TO ROCKWIRED
ABOUT THEIR DEBUT CD 'HERE AND
NOW'
FINDING THE PERFECT MIX OF ROCK AND ELECTRONICS
AND KEEPING LISTENERS HAPPY I
fell in love with TAXI DOLL the moment I took the advance copy of their
forthcoming debut CD 'HERE AND NOW' out of its wrapping and popped it
into the CD drive of my computer. TAXI DOLL's effortlessly cool electro
rock sound on the tracks 'COME TO ME' and 'GIVE YOU MORE' put
them
in a league with those other electro rock mavens GOLDFRAPP and GARBAGE,
although lead singer DHANA TAPROGGE's sex kitten purr comes closer to
ANA MATRONIC of the SCISSOR SISTERS rather than SHIRLEY MANSON. While
'GIVE YOU MORE' has been earmarked as the first single, the biggest
surprises on this debut CD are the haunting, reggaefied title track,
and SOFT KILL which has the band churning out the coldest TOM TOM
CLUB-styled funk. Produced by keyboardist GREGG ALLEN, HERE AND NOW is
the electrifying first effort of a band that is here to stay.(READ

EXCITEMENT! MAX MORGAN TALKS TO ROCKWIRED ABOUT HIS
FORTHCOMING CD 'INTERRUPTING THE
SILENCE' WORKING
WITH MARC TANNERAND TOURING
THE COUNTRY MAX
MORGAN is most certainly U.K. rock god material with his athletic build
and MARC BOLAN styled locks. Having taken his queue from rock giants
such as BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, BON JOVI, and U2, the 21 year-old MORGAN is
on the eve of releasing his debut CD 'INTERRUPTING THE SILENCE' (CHIME
ENTERTAINMENT - MARCH, 2009) and has just released the albums first
single 'WAIT FOR ME' - an obvious, yet glimmering piece of pop rock
that will no doubt be on play lists throughout the U.S. and maybe even
beyond. Produced by veteran producer MARC TANNER (AEROSMITH, MADONNA,
and THE CALLING), 'INTERRUPTING THE SILENCE' will without a doubt break
the silence for this U.K. pop rock expatriate who now calls Southern
California home. (READ

IT OUT COLIN ARMSTRONG TALKS TO ROCKWIRED ABOUT
HIS FORTHCOMING DEBUT CD 'LOST
AND ANONYMOUS' CUTTING
HIS TEETH ON THE BAGPIPE AND
FINDING HIS OWN SOUND You never
know where someone is going to end up. As a youngster, COLIN
ARMSTRONG 's first musical education was not on a Sears &
Roebucks Stratocaster, but on a bagpipe. Yes, thanks to his
semi-traditional Scottish upbringing in San Diego California of all
places ARMSTRONG got his JIMMY SHAND on and toured the world doing
bagpipe competitions. Personally, I never knew of such an instrument
until I saw MR. SCOTT playing one at MR. SPOCK's funeral at the
conclusion of STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN and while my curiosity
over how an instrument like this ges a young man laid permeates my
mind , it should be noted that the bagpipe does not make a single
appearance on ARMSTRONG's debut CD 'LOST AND ANONYMOUS'. Instead we
hear a young singer songwriter taking his queue from the great American
rock songwriters (BOB DYLAN and TOM PETTY) and mixing it up with sonics
of U2 and THE BEATLES thanks to the stellar production of MIKAL REID
(BEN HARPER, AEROSMITH, MICK JAGGER). (READ

THE
ONLY WAY DELANEY GIBSON TALKS TO ROCKWIRED ABOUT HER
DEBUT LP 'THE WORST KIND OF WAY' DREAMING
UP SONGS AND
SPENDING TWO YEARS IN THE STUDIO Singer
songwriter DELANEY GIBSON is something else! Sure, female artists who
write their own music is nothing new in the modern pop landscape, but
there is something that sets GIBSON apart from the rest - especially
the current crop; sheer musicality. Her mastery over the piano, guitar,
banjo and just about anything she puts her fingers on is intimidating
and that tremendous dexterity coupled with her unforgettable songcraft
find their way on the artists' debut L.P. 'THE WORST KIND OF WAY' In
speaking with GIBSON, 'THE WORST..." was a two year labor of love with
sessions split between producers, ANDREW SYNOWIEC and JESSE SIEBENBERG.
With 'THE WORST...' GIBSON was able to come into her own as an artist
and prove to everyone that the 'worst way' was the only way.
"
I finally thought that if my way
is the worst then I don't care!" remembers GIBSON "I want to
do it right. Unfortunately, I kind
of came to that conclusion half way through the album so I had to go
back and make things the way that Iwanted
them to sound. There was a
lot of back tracking, but it all got to where it needed to go."(READ

A LIGHT ON ME SAMANTHA
GIBB
RELEASES
THE DOCUMENTARY FILM 'A
NASHVILLE STATE OF MIND'
EXPOSING THE COUNTRY MUSIC CAPITOL'S ALTERNATIVE MUSIC SCENE: A ROCKWIRED
EXCLUSIVE There are a
lot of reasons for people to damn the music industry. You
can turn on the radio or maybe catch a music video at six in
the
morning on VH-1 (the only time they ever play music videos) and come to
the conclusion that it's all cookie-cutter music with tunes that sound
vaguely similar to each other with a few sexy pouts thrown in for good
measure. As a matter fact when anything music-related is newsworthy, it
has something to do with MADONNA's divorce or BRITNEY shaving her
head. Singer SAMANTHA GIBB ( daughter of the late MAURICE
GIBB of
THE BEE GEES) had reason to believe that all music was created
equal by that same cynical, chain-smoking music executive,
rendering the whole creative process behind music making obsolete.
However it was a fateful venture to Nashville, TN - a city exalted by
red states everywhere as the home of country music - where GIBB and her
band M.E.G. got the shot in the arm that they needed and from there on
began churning out song after song. After meeting
numerous fellow
songwriters, GIBB called up some friends, got a camera crew
set
up, and started filming everything that they saw. The end result is a
documentary film entitled A NASHVILLE STATE OF MIND which shines a
light on an exciting alternative music scene from a town that is better
known for it's twang.(READ

FEMI TALKS TO ROCKWIRED
ABOUT HER DEBUT CD 'SWEET WATER
SOUL'
WORKING WITH P.C.
MUNOZ
AND MOVING ON TO THE NEXT THING Oakland-based
singer-songwriter FEMI has spent the past five years refining her sound
before enthusiastic live audiences in the Bay Area. With all of the
momentum that she has been building up slowly and surely, you'd think
think that her debut E.P. 'SWEET WATER SOUL' (TALKING HOUSE RECORDS)
would've been released years ago. This was not the case. With
'SWEET...', the honey-voiced
songstress has finally committed her lovely compositions to an official
release. Produced by P.C. MUNOZ, this debut E.P.
is indeed a
sweet escape, showcasing stand out tracks such as 'CRUSH', the
contemplative 'PAGES', and the jazz funk fusion of 'I WANT YOU'. While
the brevity of it may leave a listener wanting more, you
can be assured that neo-soul has found another tremendous talent in the
vein of INDIA.ARIE or DES'REE.(READ

18, 2008 SECOND TIME'S THE
CHARM ARDEN KAYWIN TALKS TO ROCKWIRED
ABOUT HER LATEST RELEASE 'THE
ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM'
COLLABORATING WITH OTHERS
AND MESSING AROUND WITH SOUND For
many recording artists, it is the first album that defines them
and everything afterwards is simply building on to the
identity
that has already been established. However, there have been instances
(a'la PINK) where one's artistry doesn't quite manifest until the
second release and by then, you hope that people are still interested.
Singer/songwriter ARDEN KAYWIN is a textbook example of the latter. In
2006, KAYWIN released her debut CD 'QUARTER LIFE CRISIS' to reasonable
acclaim and industry accolades, but while the songwriting and the
delivery were earnest, one cold see these musical tales of growing up
on one's own terms fated as the background music for some
LIFETIME movie starring what's-her-name. Three years later, ARDEN
KAYWIN - the songwriter - let's her artistry shine through on
her
sophomore release 'THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM' - an immaculately produced
pop record filled with irresistible moments such as the FEIST-like
march of the first single, 'LET IT GO', the early BEATLES-styled romp
of 'LIGHTS OUT' and the yearning ballad, 'GALILEO'. This time around,
KAYWIN was in the producer's chair and writing with songwriters ZIV and
EVE NELSON. "If anything, I
hope that I can continue to work with them on future projects because
working with them was the best part of the whole process and now that
it's over, It's like I'm going through postpartum depression
because I miss being in the studio and I miss having that interaction."
confesses KAYWIN.
"It's something that I really want to do again."(READ

17, 2008 GROOVE
IS IN THE HEART ELLEE VEN TALKS TO ROCKWIRED
ABOUT HER LATEST CD 'DANGEROUS
DIVERSIONS'
WORKING WITH PRODEJE
AND KEEPING THE MUSIC COMING ELLEE
VEN's 2007 release 'YOUCANBUYME' was my first introduction to a style
of music that Ms. VEN has dubbed 'GROOVETONICS'. Sounding like
something that one would wash their hair with, GROOVETONICS was
described by VEN (JESSICA KUNIN) in a previous interview with ROCKWIRED
as a brand of music that "..is
supposed to make you move and make you feel better and provide some
sort of relief."
While any kind of dance music can fit that bill, ELLEE VEN's brand runs
the whole gamut from techno to rock to hip hop and everything in
between and it's all topped off with her MADONNA-esque coo.
GROOVETONICS is in full force on her latest CD 'DANGEROUS DIVERSION'
(HOT SAUCE RECORDS) with energetic tracks such as the rocking opener
'HERE', the positively thumping 'SORRY'S NOT ENOUGH' and the slow
burning 'HOLD ON TO ME' featuring rapper PRODEJE, but it is the track
'WHAT AM I RUNNING FROM' where VEN gets her DEBORAH HARRY on and truly
shines through on it's ethereal chorus.(READ

2008 THIS
IS NOT THE END J.T. CURTIS AND STEPHEN QUADROS OF 7TH SUN TALK TO ROCKWIRED
ABOUT THEIR DEBUT CD FROM
THE BEGINNIN',GOING
BEYOND TWO MINUTES AND FIFTY SECONDS AND PENETRATING THE MIND AND BODY It
is easy to hear 7TH SUN's debut release 'FROM THE BEGINNING' as some
sort of nostalgic romp with some ERIC CLAPTON styled picking, STEVE
WINWOOD ivory tickling and GINGER BAKER's four-to-the-floor assault on
the drums. While the bands core members (J.T. CURTIS - vocals/guitars,
ADAM KURY - bass, and STEPHEN QUADROS - drums) moonlight as the CREAM
tribute band WHIPPED CREAM, they have taken your dad's late-sixties
English rock with 7TH SUN and made it relevant to the social and
political climate of today - a world just as manic and chaotic as any
that CREAM's music tried rising above. 'FROM THE BEGINNING' is an album
that takes you some where. While I was never one of those kids that
listened to PINK FLOYD or any thing like that (I was more into New
Wave), in listening to '...BEGINNING', I get it. The band goes from
jazzy instrumentals to strutting rockers, funky breakdowns, almost
reggae-styled grooves and anthemic guitar solos, all in a moments
notice. Nowhere does this bands sound come together more perfectly than
on the sizzling track 'BIG MAN'. Unlike the current crop of
"alternative" rockers (if they even call them that anymore), 7TH SUN
gives you reason to believe that rock n roll doesn't have to be all pop
psychological heartache, false earnestness, and empty posturing. It can
be a hell of a ride.(READ

BUSINESS EARL R. JOHNSON JR. TALKS TO ROCKWIRED ABOUT
HIS DEBUT CD 'JUICY',
WORKING WITH JUST
ABOUT EVERYONE IN MUSIC AND REVEALING A COMPLEX MOTHER AND AND MAKING A
CONNECTION WITH THE AUDIENCE Pianist and
composer EARL R. JOHNSON JR. has travelled the world and the seven seas
and has built a name for himself as 'the'
keyboardist to work with. His resume has certainly been enhanced by the
marquis value of industry luminaries such as BRIAN MCKNIGHT, CHAKA
KHAN, GLADYS KNIGHT, KENNY LATTIMORE, and BEYONCE, however being the
supporting player wasn't exactly what JOHNSON had set out to do. Ever
since he earned his degree from the BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC in Film
Scoring, the phone has not stopped ringing with people wanting him to
work with them. Needless to say, the dream of scoring that great, big,
Hollywood blockbuster has eluded him so far. His self-produced and
self-financed debut CD 'JUICY'is
more than just a calling card for JOHNSON's immense artistry and
talent. It is also an introduction to a man whose talents have not yet
been realized by folks outside of the music industry."It
took a lot of saving and planning and begging and crying, but that is
why
I'm so proud of it now." says JOHNSON in regard to recording 'JUICY'.
"I'm pleased that I actually finished it. I wanted a GRAMMY-level
project that was independently produced and I wanted it to be able to
sit up on the self beside any other project. I wanted it to look and
sound like a major label release with the only difference being that I
paid for it myself."(READ

HER DEBUT CD 'SIMONE ON SIMONE',
PAYING HOMAGE TO
HER MOTHER - NINA SIMONE
AND REVEALING A COMPLEX MOTHER AND DAUGHTER RELATIONSHIP THROUGH MUSIC Whenever
a son or daughter of a successful recording artist releases their own
music, you often hear remarks such as "They wouldn't have made with out
their parents." Fame by association comes more easily in the acting
world as opposed to music, and the long, winding road to her first ever
CD was certainly not an easy one for singer LISA CELESTE KELLY who has
taken on the stage name SIMONE in honor of her mother, the
High
Priestess of Soul - NINA SIMONE. The pursuit of a music career wasn't
the route that was expected of KELLY. While the inclination may have
always been there to lift up her voice and sing, LISA instead joined
the
military. Following the first Gulf War, KELLY left the service and
chased that often elusive dream of super stardom to the dismay of her
parents. "Oh
man! I didn't really share my decision with my parents." confesses
KELLY. "My mother was especially
concerned because of a lot of the experiences that she had
had. I
decided to do it anyway. It was the first time in my life where I felt
in my bones that this was what I was supposed to be doing."(READ

PRETENDING SUSANNAH BLINKOFF TALKS TO ROCKWIRED
ABOUT HER LATEST CD 'LET'S
PRETEND', WORKING
WITH PRODUCER RICH JACQUES
AND COMING INTO HER OWN The
album 'LET'S PRETEND' is a debut of sorts for singer songwriter
SUSANNAH BLINKOFF. Within the past ten years, she has released two EPs
and and a full length LP (2005's 'HAPPY TODAY') under the band moniker
CAMP SUSANNAH. Working with producer and songwriter RICH JACQUES,
SUSANNAH and her earnest pop sensibiliities shine brightest on the
pleasantly rocking 'MY TIME NOW', the subtle groove of 'GOOD TO BE
HERE', and the plucky 'I GOT LUCKY'. BLINKOFF's songwriting chops seem
practically effortless on 'LET'S PRETEND'. One would assume
that
her confessional brand of pop craftsmanship owes to the likes of CARLY
SIMON or CAROLE KING, however the inspiration is a little closer to
home. "I
was sort of born into it." confesses BLINKOFF "My mother is a
songwriter and in the
seventies she was a singer-songwriter who was signed to ELECTRA"
While
the transition from being the child of singer-songwriter to being a
singer-songwritertook a little longer than one might expect, the
results are solid. 'LET'S PRETEND' is worth a few spins.<a style="font-family: Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif;" href="http://www.msplinks.com/MDFodHRwOi8vd3d3LnJvY2t3aXJlZC5jb20vc3VzYW5uYWhibGlua29mZi5odG1s" target=

where he produces ROCKWIRED LIVE in association with THE AMERICAN RADIO

also a frequent contributor to WHAT'S UP MAGAZINE, SOUTHBOUND BEAT

The
radio show and the website were launched in January of 2005. The
inspiration for the show came from a most unlikely source - an
obituary. Specifically, it was an obituary for the legendary BBC Disc
Jockey JOHN
PEEL.
"I was on an a plane heading back to Albuquerque for Thanksgiving and I
was reading an issue of BLENDER and as soon as I got to the
end of the
issue, there it was." says BRIAN. At that point, BRIAN had already been
producing radio shows for THE AMERICAN RADIO NETWORK but was actually
giving thought to the idea of calling it quits. "I was about
to give
up." says BRIAN "Then I read this obituary and it all made sense. The
obituary refered to PEEL
as the last DJ and keep in mind this was at a time where people were
saying that there was nothing good on the radio (I guess they still do)
and that album rock radio was dead. Yet here I was, with an internet
radio show. It was just a matter of getting the word out there. And
changing the name."

a particular artist, however arrangements need to be made with MR. LUSH
if this is to happen.
WHY ASPECIAL FEATURE? While
a thirty minute radio show doesn't sound like much, it is more tha
enough time to introduce listeners to an artist and to give them a
taste of their work. A 30 minute feature contains a brief pre-recorded
interview withthe aritst, insights into the artist's latest release by
the show's hosts BRIAN LUSH and SINE DOHERTY as they spin 5 to 6 tracks
from said release. ROCKWIRED LIVE streams live from the KTSTFM.COM
studio in Anaheim, California and airs only once, however, the show
will be made available in either CD or MP3 format and will prove an
invaluable promotional tool that is both informative and entertaining.
Arrangements
for producing a special feature need to be made four weeks prior to the
broadcast date and must be made with BRIAN LUSH who can be reached at
714-279-9737 or via e-mail at djlush@rockwired.com.

Hi,
We've released a new video clip for 'Talentless', our 2nd single. The video consists of pictures of the group's energetic performances over the past 3 years. Do take a few minutes and watch, this will kick your ass!!!
Guitar Player Magazin: Michael Jost Venice, CA "Ganja" This is a fabulous celebration of acoustic and electric tones, arrangement shifts, and cagey signal processing- all lightly kissed with elements of flamenco, world beat, rock, blues, psychedelia, folk, and jazz. Its marvelous, almost textbook music production, but Jost has the chops to make this party all about guitar.
On You License you can purchase & or license his entire catalog of instrumental music!
