If you are looking for a good time and some live music then you need to come to a ROOTDOWN show. The infectious enthusiasm of the group's performance will have you smiling and moving your feet from the door to the dance floor. Comprised of six Oregonians who love reggae music ROOTDOWN has put their approach to the genre down in college town Eugene. Combining elements of pop, rock and reggae their music creates a vibrant mood of sunshine even where it rains most of the year.
Their live show has caused a quick buzz as they have recently been asked to open for Pepper, The Itals, Clinton Fearon and The Wailers.
Their audience is as diverse as the sound ranging from young to old who love eclectic sounds and dance till the sun comes up. ROOTDOWN falls into the “pop/rock/reggae” category of band and genre, a well-developed musical culture with roots stretching back to the early days of Bob Marley, through the years of Sublime, and into today with acts like Slightly Stoopid, Pepper and Matisyahu.
The members met on MySpace scoping each other’s music profiles out and began jamming in the summer of 2007. On November 20, they released their first 4-song EP on Ocean Ave Records, which has been downloaded over 10,000 times in three months and still is being distributed free via the net.
