Founded in 2003, as a one man band by J.E. under the name Rotten Rectum. A.J. found his way into the band quite quickyl and the first "official" demo, "Adonis Satanica". In the bands spirit, 4 copies of the demo exists. For the demo, the band made a music video off the song "Necropedofilia". The music video was a splinter in the eye of the underground scene, disgusting and shocking people, and the band was very pleased. The video has been available to download only on the old website, and it's banned from youtube.
The band used the old "Rotten Rectum" moniker, until 2004 the name was changed to simply "Rotten". 2004 saw the release of our second mini CD "Ultraviolent". The CD featured such timeless hits as "Bound and Beaten to Death", "Piss On Your Grave", a remake of the songs off the first demo. 2-3 copies exists, exept for the 4-track promo version.
In 2005, the band was joined by A.W. on female backing growls. Rotten decided now to properly release the next album "Fall of Mankind", a record that featured new songs such as "Hell On Earth", "I Gave Up", "Human", "Misantrophy", plus re-re-recorded old songs. 300 copies were made of this album.
Because of drum machines and bass overdubs, Rotten was chained to the studio. This was beginning to change in late 2005, when Rotten got its first, real drummer K.H. At this time, Rotten also got a bass player J.L., but he got the boot pretty fast because he didn't practice any songs or bass playing for that matter, he was busy just "being in a death metal band", if you catch my drift.
The band ventured into a studio in Joensuu in the spring of 2006 to record a new single, complete with a band lineup. During the bass recording, the bassplayer really shined with his poor playing, so the band fired and sent their bass player J.L. home and J.E. recorded all the bass. The songs recorded in Joensuu was "Kill All In Sight" and "Warfare".
On the 23 of may, K.H. was out on a 3 day drinking binge, which ended in him setting fire to the Porvoo Cathedral. The fire destroyed the roof, and K.H. got sentenced to jail for 6 years and 6 months. The demo was to be released 6.6.2006, but due to this unfortunate event, the band had to dissapear from the public eye and put the single on hold, not wanting to be labeled or stigmatized from the events that had nothing to do with the music. The band quickly pulled their websites, to prevent the media vultures from picking on the fresh carcass. The trial and evens surrounding was highly covered in Finnish massmedia, so there was a lot of pressure on everybody and drove the members into reclusion.
Rotten has now been in a state of coma since then, and there is no plans on continuing. J.E and A.J. will probably make something sometimes, in the near of far future, whenever they feel like.
Rotten's core idea was about great riffs, beer, and a big fuck you to everybody-attitude.
