In his 2005 autobiography They Said Shit or Get Off the Pot, but I Did Both, legendary Atlanta music personality Don "The Fish" Fishman said the following:
"The thing is, they worked really hard to get where they were, but it was a lot of pressure. First of all, they spent close to five years working on that first album, and man, when it blew up, no one was expecting it. All of a sudden you've got these dudes from some suburb of Atlanta all over the radio, all over Music Television [Mtv], it was just crazy. And they were still just kids! So, you know, how do you follow that up? They won a god damn Grammy! I mean, what do you do next? They kept plugging along, but you can't blame them for getting burnt out after a few more years. God knows I've wanted to hang it up more than once myself. The girls, the drugs, the booze, the comped meals- it really starts to wear you down after a while. Sometimes you just want to sit on the couch and watch "American Chopper" without the weight of the world on your shoulders. So I understand why they hung it up. I understand why they decided to lay low for a while. I hear they're working on something again, though. I sure hope it's not for shit. It'd be a hell of a shame to tarnish that legacy."
Unfortunately, he was talking about the Black Crowes.
Well, maybe it's just my laptop's factory speakers but this mix is kinda odd. The Steve Albini drums are good, but what of the guitars played over AM radio played over the speaker phone, or the Lumpy-in-the-bathroom-with-the-door-open vocals?
if any of you turdburritos like horror, then put down the bong and come out to this: Informal Form Letter: Be there! Bring a crew. Hang out and get f’d (up). Good people, good times. When you turn onto Holtzclaw, go ALL THE WAY to the back on the left to DooGallery. Bloody sheep mutilations.
oh, get PPR's cds, particularly "diarrhea". they're the snottiest thing to come out of atlanta since you fucks were too pussy to keep playing tunes. PPR. they've got songs that rock, like: "drunk sister fuck", "she's puttin' it up her butt", and my FAVORITE "let me piss in your pussy". seriously, these guys would've given you a run for your beer back in the day.
I enjoy death metal and gangsta rap. Is your music anything like that? Because if not, I'm not sure this is the band I need to hitch my wagon to. I had a bad experience with Nice Hat.
that photo is the punk/oi fest of '96. it was an all day fest with the usual groups...pig dogs, stopper, oswalds, smedley, fla, etc. mike green played drums on this gig (of the oswalds, 12 oz., light pupil dilate...oh and blue crab, too!)
i suspect j and i are hiding behind amps, lest we get a beatin' from the overly enthusiastic skins that joined us onstage.
