About me:

{KENOX S860 / Samsung S860}..I am on my way. My theme song on a good day is Gary Allen's Life Ain't Always Beautiful; on a bad one it's Alanis Morrisette's You Oughta Know. I am not, for the record, exactly sure where it is that I am headed, much less when I'll get there.

My life has of late been quite often nightmarish. I am reminded quite often that fairytales, in their original tellings, had tragic endings more often than not. And then I slap myself for being a melodramatic bitch.

I miss Rob. The pre-batshit-insane version, that is. I still catch glimpses of that Rob every once in a while. It is why, in spite of everything, I am still his biggest fan.

I may not have my husband anymore, but I've got my city & my car, and that's damn near enough. (Yeah, my girls are exponentially more important, but I really shouldn't have to spell it out.)

I am trying to remember who the hell I am. I used to write & crochet & have passion. As of late I have been too occupied with mere survival. I'm working my way back towards that, though. Just woke up with a song in my head this morning (21 Jun.)

I'm starting at SAC in the fall, pre-nursing. I miss being able to do the wife and mom stuff, but c'est la vie. I don't regret, for the record, doing it instead of pursuing a career, even though I'm rather below the bottom rung of the economic ladder at the moment.

I blog elsewhere, but you'll have to find me.

Who I'd like to meet:

George Bush. No, really. I think he's cool. Anyone who can convince his enemies he is simultaneously too stupid to find his ass with both hands & a map and that he is omnipotent (everything seems to be his fault) must surely be an interesting person.

    How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
    I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
    My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
    For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
    I love thee to the level of everyday's
    Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
    I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
    I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
    I love thee with a passion put to use
    In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
    I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
    With my lost saints, --- I love thee with the breath,
    Smiles, tears, of all my life! --- and, if God choose,
    I shall but love thee better after death.

    She Walks in Beauty
    by Lord Byron

    She walks in beauty, like the night
    Of cloudless climes and starry skies,
    And all that's best of dark and bright
    Meets in her aspect and her eyes;
    Thus mellow'd to that tender light
    Which Heaven to gaudy day denies.

    One shade the more, one ray the less,
    Had half impair'd the nameless grace
    Which waves in every raven tress
    Or softly lightens o'er her face,
    Where thoughts serenely sweet express
    How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

    And on that cheek and o'er that brow
    So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
    The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
    But tell of days in goodness spent,—
    A mind at peace with all below,
    A heart whose love is innocent.

    Sonnet 18

    Shall I compare thee to a Summer's day?
    Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
    Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
    And Summer's lease hath all too short a date:
    Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
    And oft' is his gold complexion dimm'd;
    And every fair from fair sometime declines,
    By chance or nature's changing course untrimm'd:
    But thy eternal Summer shall not fade
    Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;
    Nor shall Death brag thou wanderest in his shade,
    When in eternal lines to time thou growest:

    So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
    So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

    I don't have a TV anymore. Sometimes I miss it, but then I go somewhere there is one and am reminded why I gave it away.
