"Pale Silver & Shiny Gold" 2010 Order the VINYL LP... HERE! Order the ALBUM... HERE!(Scandinavia, US, Canada & Germany) Order the album in the UK... HERE! It is as simple as this... Are you into wall of guitars, waves of voices, bombastic heartbreaks and sobbing? ...then we are indeed a friend Swedish Indie-rockers Sad Day For Puppets release the second album "Pale Silver & Shiny Gold" September 1st (SWE Scandinavia), Sept. 6th (UK Ireland) and Sept. 15th (Japan) Recorded last winter in a freezing cold Stockholm, 'Pale Silver & Shiny Gold' comes just over a year after their acclaimed debut, 'Unknown Colors', but at a mere 37 minutes is much more focused and concise. As the crows that have replaced the finches on the band's logo seem to indicate, it's also a much darker and heavier album. This is perhaps a result of touring extensively with A Place To Bury Strangers (the two bands got on so famously that Strangers mainman Oliver Ackermann is named as the 'patron saint' of the album). Regardless of how it happened, 'Pale Silver & Shiny Gold' is something of a minor-key masterpiece. It opens with the mournful 'Sorrow, Sorrow', which sees Anna joined by her sister Annika for some beautiful harmonies like some kind of Swedish Everly Sisters. This gives way to 'Such A Waste', which takes the overt J Mascis references of their debut and shifts them into overdrive. 'Monster & The Beast', is slow and menacing and about as scary as the cover art, which looks like it's straight out of a Grimm's fairy tale. It's not all heaviness and misery though – 'Beads' is a simple, acoustic, lovelorn ballad, 'Touch' is pure, Primitive(s) indie-pop with about three different choruses. Sad Day For Puppets were formed in 2006 in the Stockholm satellite town of Blackeberg, the setting for the creepy vampire book/film 'Let The Right One In'. The natural focal point of the band is singer Anna Eklund, in it's turn leaning on Marcus Sandgren's ringing and fuzzy chords. Martin Kllholm, the band's resident songwriting genius, claims to be inspired by Thin Lizzy, Cheap Trick, Kiss and Aerosmith and is strangely obsessed with Bette Midler. Most of the bands influences can be traced back to the early nineties, when they all were teenagers. This period has made it's mark on the band. The guitars are once again allowed to roam free and shine. The music is all about shimmering layers of guitars, intertwined feedback melodies all dreamy and grand and sad, and ethereal harmony vocals. The band started working on the debut album as soon as "Just Like a Ghost EP" ( april 2008) was out, and this time the guitars have an even more prominent place in the over all sound. There's guitar feedback, fuzzy distortion and big harmonies working as a fond for the voice of Anna. Hann se fyra sista låtarna på Lilla Hotellbaren ikväll. Det lät riktigt bra!
Koolt!

So yesterday (Tues 8th) my plan was from Derby, visit friend in Maidenhead near London, go see The Go! Team and last train home. Found out that Go Team were sold out so quick scan of "ents24" for a back up plan came up with you. Top notch stuff, loved the gig, love the album. Result
Enjoyed the gig at Moho
