About me: One's a six-foot tall canine shamus with a love of justice. The other's a hyperkinetic rabbity-thing with a taste for violence and an oversized Luger. Together, Sam & Max are the Freelance Police, ridding the streets of bottom-feeding sludge one dastardly miscreant at a time.
Sam & Max got their start in the indie comic book scene, courtesy of Steve Purcell. They were regulars in the LucasArts Adventurer magazine in the 1990s, and starred in a popular computer game in 1993, Sam & Max Hit the Road. The duo went on to appear in a Saturday morning cartoon in 1997. Steve Purcell's cult classic Sam & Max collection, Surfin' the Highway, has been out of print for years and goes for insane prices on eBay.
After almost a decade, the Freelance Police have crashed back into the limelight with a new series of episodic games developed by Telltale Games.
Hey! I'm up to 18 pages of my comic in my MySpace photos section! Come take a read if you haven't already, and if you're feeling generous, let me know what you think! Thanks!
I met Steve Purcell at Comic-Con yesterday. He was awesome. He signed my copy of Surfin' the Highway, Epic Color Collection, Animated Series, Season One, and Hit the Road. I was even able to chat with him for quite a while after the signing session (I kept bumping into him around the convention center).
Hey, Sam & Max, finally got your hardcover edition of your book. Wouldn't you know it, not even out of the box, and some joker scribbled on the inside of it with a drawing of Max.
Purcell or someone. Anyhoo, enjoyed your Fizzball tutorial and I've been showing kids your episodes on my PSP, which will leave impressionable scars on them for life.
Tell Max I need him to demonstrate the proper use of using the Wii Remote and Nunchuck.. need to get rid of some annoying consumers who aren't really consumers but lazy bums wanting to play games for free!
And you know the Commissioner frowns on that, unless they give Max healthy donations for his campaign funds.
Meanwhile it's rumored the Daleks are miffed at Max and are planning some retaliation which involves them shooting their death rays wildly about and screaming 'EX-TER-MIN-ATE!'
Obviously didn't learn their lesson after they accidentally blew up Max's favorite Starbucks. The one that serves Glazed McGuffin-flavored Scones.
