September 2009 - been battling with politics lately. I've been seeing the right more and more as RWNJ - right wing nut jobs. It's funny how they all kept quiet when Bush was lying about going to war, driving us toward a huge deficit and now they are bitching about Obama's programs, that we're spending too much money. Where were these people during Bush years? I think liberals have been weary of saying that a lot of the right hate is actually racism. There are a lot of people that are against Obama cause of race. It's true. There is no other reason to be so hateful of somebody trying to give health care to the masses. My take on this is, the republican health care plan is - we got ours, go fuck yourselves.

August 2009 - I added Charles Bukowski reading his work to my playlist cause his words, like Kerouac, are lyrical, products of their time, blogs before there were blogs, inspired in my view by listening and feeling the beats of being alive, of the patterns heard and experienced over and over again. Improv insights like musicians laying tracks about love, hate, emotions which is why I followed his reading with a selection from My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts by Brian Eno and David Bryne where they took recordings off the radio and set them to music. And then I have Gershwin's New York City anthem, again inspired by the pulse, the breath, the majesty of Manhattan. (below is Al's Bar 1985)

March 2009 - Was working during the Oscars and missed them, well, actually I haven't watched the Oscars in years, I don't know why except, maybe half jealously, when I was younger I imagined myself winning the Oscar for best director and now realize that is never going to happen, and due to the smug E! Channel type cut down criticism of attendees and their clothes and boobs and how fat/thin people are. I used to go to Oscar parties and besides the betting on 'who wins' game, everyone sat around and made snide remarks about the clothes and boobs and how fat/thin people were and now I'm not a purist about the Oscars should only be about the movies, cause they never were, they were a marketing ploy like everything else in Hollywood, but I just can't picture sitting around watching the Oscars thirty years ago mocking the way Gregory Peck was aging or the dress that Ingrid Bergman was wearing. It's almost like the difference between the tuxedo generation and the t-shirt generation. I don't know, I mean, I'm more t-shirt by far, but it's about respect, I mean real respect, not that stupid, self-serving reality show get pissed about nothing and throw a drink in somebody's face cause they disrespected your bikini wax.

July 2009 - I know it's so easy to write negative instead of positive, but right now I'm inspired to write, but not inspired enough to go beyond being negative. The three people on tv that I find most annoying right now are: Rachel Ray, that Millionaire Matchmaker chick and Dog the bounty hunter. Rachel Ray just seems way too animated and over the top, as if trying too hard, as if trying to be a regular person and I think she needs to tone it down a few notches. Maybe it's only that I'm so on edge that her antics annoy me, but that's the truth. And, that matchmaker chick on Bravo, well, I'd like to just smack her across the face and tell her to shut up. If anybody was ever so least suited to inducing love between two people, I'd be hard pressed to find them. And, for Dog, I think he's a damn hypocrite and I know people are free to say whatever they want to say, but seriously, that guy doesn't deserve to have such an open platform to speak.

May 2009 - still haven't read any books in a long time, although while working on location in Waco I started emailing some short diary type blogs to people about being in Waco. I couldn't write about the show cause of the huge confidentiality contract I signed, but I did write about Waco. A gaffer named The Mule started putting my emails into an iphoto book with the help of a DP named Dee who was editing my input. Anyway as soon as I get it finalized I'll let you all know. Here's an excerpt from the book. --- FIRE ANT CONDOS - technically i'm a land owner I think to myself as I hack up a pound of yellow waco dust and spit onto the street. There's a blind woman walking toward me swinging her cane back and forth sweeping the edge of the street. There's no sidewalks here, no conformity, no rules on this street. Sometimes there's curbs made out of vertical stones, other times there are logs lining the edge of a dirt yard and 50 year old oil and chip paving. The blind woman is getting closer tapping her cane against the cracking pot holed road. tap tap tap. The heat today is oppressive. My boots are sticking to the asphalt hole patches. Yesterday it was 22 degrees and frosty, today, near 100 and humid. that's waco for you. tomorrow they're calling for tornadoes and heavy tomatoes. tap tap tap, she's getting closer as cars drive around her as if this happens everyday. maybe it does. there's a Baylor foresics lab next to a tomb stone yard sale. it's easier to care for the dead than the living. tap tap tap. random yards have gas meters sticking up from the middle of the grass as if the workers were digging and it got too hard, so they just stopped, fuck it, put the meter here. then there's the millions of fire ant holes and mounds, funny that the ants have no trouble digging into the waco crusty burnt earth. tap tap honkkkkk!

Обо мне:

Maybe I split my creative time between too many different forums, I don't know. It's just that so many things about life inspire me that I can't focus on just one thing. Anyway, here's a painting by Van Gogh, a man who saw the beauty of life.

Я хочу найти:

OK. I know why this category is here, because by writing who you'd like to meet, you're telling people who you are or at least who you want to be. And there are usually only two ways people go - they list serious people like Einstein, Princess Di, Jesus Christ OR list silly people like Bugs Bunny, Santa Claus or a pornstar. But here's where I'm going with this, I'd rather know about people who you really met - that inspired, changed or ruined your life cause that's real and happens everyday and I always think, I mean, if we actually had the chance to sit down for coffee with Hitler or Mother Teresa, we'd probably just ask them a bunch of inane questions as if we were conducting an interview for the E! Channel and their answers wouldn't probably affect our lives except to tell your friends that Hitler looked like a mook when white foam from his double soy latte got stuck to his mustache.

well, I don't know how many other readers you have but I read all your words...some of them twice. I don't always comment but I can assure you I was there. No sense telling you that you write well...you know that, so I will just say that your writing keeps me reading (curiosity, admiration, understanding, creativity, passion, and because you spell so well).

Merry Christmas Sam. I being so far away from family this year, and living with room mates: a Rabi and a Muslim, just wasn't my idea of the traditional thing this year. So I downed a liter of Heineken at breakfast, two glasses of home made wine for late lunch, and nursed Gentleman Jack with a neighbor till the stars came out. You?

Rick: You know what I want to hear.
    Sam: No, I don't.
Rick: You played it for her, you can play it for me!
Sam: Well, I don't think I can remember...
Rick: If she can stand it, I can! Play it!

A comment from J.U., not on MySpace - To add to your death penalty thoughts; I think the whole idea of the justice system has been forgotten. The unspoken pact with the government is that they'll get your revenge for you so you aren't allowed to get it yourself. If the gov. is too ham-handed to actually apply a punishment eventually people will go out and get justice themselves.

Wake up People! Do you not realize genius when it is in your face? Read, Listen, Watch, Learn. Just one inspired person can be the greatest patron since Guggenheim was for Pollock!
Until you experience Angry Sam, you will never be complete!

Yet, another comment from somebody not on MySpace regarding the death penalty debate - Your friend Joel is a thoughtful guy. I was glad to hear him talk about the lack of justice in the world, and how its really just an illusion. He didn't get too far into it, but he's right of course. Justice is a lie, a fool, a chimera.

This is another comment from a friend not on MySpace regarding my death penalty debate - Win 'em over, one at a time. Careful w/ the Ten Commandments argument, lest you want a government of the church.

This is a comment from a friend Josh who is not with MySpace regarding my thoughts on football in the TV section - In football you have to take it like a man, not a lawyer!
