Serious Sam plays raw roots music. Born and raised in Yorkshire, he sings the traditional music of his county and writes songs from the heart. Yorkshirecana is the word everyone is using to describe Sam's country/roots sound and it suits him down to the ground. His debut album “Close To Home” was released in August 09 and picked up rave reviews from the specialist folk/roots magazines and elsewhere. Artrocker rated the album 27th in their top 100 albums of 2009! He's turned a lot of heads with his songwriting, guitar playing and interpretation of traditional music and he has been selected as a showcasing artist at sxsw 2010.

Yorkshirecana bluegrass brilliance from Serious Sam. He plays a mean 12 string resonator, mixing songs about his home county with traditional southern folk stompers. There’s authenticity, there’s soul - someone to get very excited about.”- ARTROCKER.COM
Deliciously home-grown, this is a rewarding collection of songs that could well renew your faith in underground folk scenes. This stripped down and raw album is riddled with the gritty reality of this artist's Northern life and makes no apologies ACOUSTIC MAGAZINE

Serious Sam Barrett plays traditional songs and his own compositions from the Leeds delta on a big 12-string guitar and resonator. Close To Home, his debut album is bright and brash and very good. ROCK N' REEL MAGAZINE (R2)

"Heartier praise cannot really be given to Sam's songwriting than by saying you'd be hard pressed to work out which songs were his and which were old" SANDMAN
"Sam seriously sparkles when he brings his take on pre-WW2 string driven sounds straight to twentieth century Yorkshire. Treasure him for that rich uniqueness" MONO MAGAZINE
"From the first track "Tongue Tied Blues" and it's sliding railroad riff asking where his sweet heart has gone I was hooked" YOUCRAZYDREAMERS.COM

Serious Sam Barrett, a man so talented he'll never be famous ROCKLOUDER.CO.UK

Barrett's folk style celebrates the wide world of music it draws from - honest tunes - and his own work adds to this. He plays with an open heart and wins others DALLIANCE.CO.UK

Twenty years on from the FLAT DUO JETS, who created the template for stripped down rock and roll that’s been copped by the White Stripes and a thousand far less clever bands, Dex Romweber has teamed up with his sister Sara (Let’s Active, Snatches of Pink) for the first time on the debut album by the Duo, Ruins of Berlin. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dexter_Romweber
In August of 1976 Exene moved to Los Angeles, because she knew she had to get out of Florida. She arrived in town with $80 in a paper bag and wound up living with 5 people in a 1-room apartment in Ocean Park. A short time later she began working in Venice in the library at the l
