    I don't watch much television. I'd rather read. My oldest daughter    , Megan and I like to watch series on DVD, minus commercials and whenever we want to watch. We loved 24; Alias; The Office; and we're currently getting into Buffy because some have likened my heroine Astra Q Phelps to her.

    Where do I start? I love JD Robb, and to a slightly lesser extent her books as Nora Roberts. I like Kim Harrison. I consumed the Diana Gaboldon, Outlander series and Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series. I recently discovered CL Wilson, R Garland Gray, Karen Chance, and Kelley Armstrong and have really enjoyed their work. The list could go on forever!

  • Heroes

    .. I always tell my husband he's my hero and it's true! My mom is also my hero because she's lost a husband and a beloved dog over the last couple of years and she still continues to not only live her life but enjoy it and seek out new adventures. She just bought her first pair of jeans and loves them! She's in her seventies and still works out with us (and we work out hard in my family!), plays tennis several times a week, and has a busier social schedule than I do. For all these things and more I love and respect her more than I can say. So there Mom!

Like a coven of witches under a Gibbous moon, I dance the razor edge between fantasy and reality, alternately reaching toward the freedom and delight of life in my fantastical world and then drawing back reluctantly, before it pulls me whole into its tempting embrace. I function well enough in the real world, but throughout my day I glance fondly and often toward my fantasies, holding wistfulness in my heart, along with the hope that someday I can shake off the real world’s hold on me, and jump butt first into delicious whimsy.

In my real life, I live on a hobby farm in Indiana with 10 dogs, 4 horses, 2 barn cats, 2 daughters, and one husband. Not necessarily in that order. When asked why, why, why on the 10 dogs (yes, they all live in the house!), I simply shrug and say that I'm stupid. But what I really mean to say is that I'm a dog-aholic. I of course can’t be blamed for my addiction. I am a victim. And along those lines, if anyone knows of a support group for this addiction please write me at samcheever@samcheever.com and fill me in.
