Sounds Like
A girl once told me I sounded like Devendra Banhart but with better lyrics. Then she told me she was on acid.
Sam Cooper has been keeping busy since moving to Portland, OR in 2007. While regularly performing locally and around the nation as an avant-folk singer-songwriter, Sam has recorded two albums (three if you count the rap album) and has collaborated with numerous bands as a multi-instrumentalist, including Horse Feathers and Jared Mees and the Grown Children.
Sam usually performs his own songs solo, with faux-hammer finger style guitar and a dynamic croon. He sometimes plays with Providence Plantations and/or Birch Bells, amorphous bands of friendly musicians. His recordings feature vaguely orchestral instrumental arrangements played by him and by friends.
In other projects, Sam has been known to play banjo, violin, bass, keyboards, mandolin, percussion, accordion, and to sing. In addition to Horse Feathers and Jared Mees and the Grown Children, Sam has played or is playing with Tchotchkes, Autopilot is for Lovers, Galveston, Jive White Boy, Invisible Rockets, and the Ivonrose Family Jamboree.
Sam will be touring around the country and possibly the world in 2009, with his own music and with Horse Feathers and Jared Mees and the Grown Children. He will also be recording a new album to follow up last year's "Spiritual Billionaire," which will be re-released this spring.

How I made my profile: I used Dave & Jay's amazing myspace editor.
Nobody improvises drums like that, son. We're way excited about your Laurelthirst show now; we love Porches something awful and could even "network" some more before hand!
Yeah! Man, that was a rowdy show. Things have been good. I moved back to Portland a few weeks ago. And I'm running a record label with Dhani of Eskimo & Sons, and Nelson of The Old Believers. What've you been up to Mr. Sam Cooper?
Sad I missed you at Sasquatch, I was there Saturday and Sunday cause Joel was playing but could not stay for Monday. Hopefully I'll see you while you're in Portland!
