HELLO
My name is Sam. I play music. My debut album "Bears" was released on June 22nd 2009 on Hear You Me records. It took a long time to make. My band and I are very proud of it.
I have played over 400 shows in the last 3 years. It has been intense. Its time to work on the second album. Songs are being written. They sound good. One day you will get to hear them.
It's like an indie cottage industry. Friends do my artwork, make my recordings and run around with my mailing list. We do all the driving.
I have released many singles/EPs and things. They are all over there on the left. You can buy many of them and other things like t-shirts from my ONLINE SHOP.
I played the BBC Electric Proms in November 2007, playing with Edwyn Collins and then going on the BBC Introducing Tour. In May 2008 I went on the White Ribbon Alliance's Convoy to Cape Town and played at townships and clubs across South Africa. I've played at fun festivals like Great Escape, Wireless, Glastonbury, Latitude, V Festival and Truck. I've done sessions for Huw Stephens (Radio 1), Colin Murray (Radio 1), Zane Lowe (Radio 1), Janice Long (Radio 2) and John Kennedy (XFM). I've had my songs played by Jo Whiley, Zane Lowe, Colin Murray, Steve Lamacq and Huw Stephens on Radio 1, and also by John Kennedy and Steve Harris on XFM. Kerrang and many other regional stations have been kind enough to play my songs too.
I've played with lots of other bands and artists, like Tellison, Dave House, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, Luke Leighfield, Johnny Foreigner, Scouting For Girls, Frank Turner, Pigeon Detectives, Goodbooks, Ben's Brother, Kate Walsh, KT Tunstall, Athlete, The Fratellis and Walter Schreifels amongst others.
WOOD FESTIVAL
I recently played at the amazing Wood Festival. Two great videos emerged from the weekend. The first is of us playing an acoustic set with a twist - being that we were generating the electricity for our own performance by cycling on bikes rigged up to the power supply. It was pretty cool.
hope you and the band are well and look forward to seeing you again at southsea fest if not sooner although i'm skint so probably not sooner. i just popped by to have a little listen before bed time. bonsoir! xxxxx
Just a quick note to say that Bears is the best record i bought since hope of the states lost riots. I am quite jealous since i introduced my girlfriend to your music she wont stop going on about you!
To all those reading comments on his profile, BUY THIS ALBUM! Its by the far the best album out this year, and is both simple and clever. happy and sad. dancy and relatable when your partner decides your best friend is a 'better guy'.
Hope your touring goes well and ill try make it to the birmingham gig your doing.
Hi Sam, I had the pleasure to enjoy your concert at Umsonst & Draussen in Würzburg, Germany. I had a blast. Thank you so much. I love your music. Wish you a lot of success and hope to see you soon again. Ina
