プロフィール
横浜生まれ。日本人の父とニュージーランド人の母を持つ。
小学校までを日本で過ごし、ニュージーランドで10代を過ごす。
高校時代は、ドラマーとして同級生とバンドを組むかたわら、ピアノ、コーラスとしても、数々のパフォーマンスをこなす。
上智大学への1年間の国費留学を経て、ニュージーランドのMassey Universityを卒業後はニュージーランドでOLとして働くも、何かが足りないと感じ始める。
そして、「後悔したままで、人生を終わらせたくない」という強い思いから、夢であった音楽の道に進むことを決意。ニュージーランドにある音楽学校、EXCEL School of Performing Artsに入学し、本格的に音楽を学びはじめる。
在学中は学校内の選抜ツアーチームで、メインボーカルとして年間300回を超える国内ツアーを精力的にこなす。
2005年よりソロ活動を開始。
ニュージーランドで最大規模を誇る音楽フェス"Parachute Festival"に3年連続出演。
同イベントのコンペにて1位を獲得。
また、アメリカの世界的な音楽コンテスト"International Songwriting Competition (ISC)"で、ファイナリストの座に輝く。
2006年には、初のインディーズアルバム"April Fool"を、自ら制作した。
ニュージーランドのみならず、ロンドン、デンマークなどでツアーを精力的に行い、アルバム1000枚を、自らの手で売り上げる。
2007年、ニュージーランドのテレビ、ラジオ等に出演。4時間半に及ぶワンマンライブ等も精力的にこなすだけでなく、「リクエストに応えて演奏できるようにしたい」と、100曲以上にも及ぶカバーソングまでもマスターする。
2008年春、活動の拠点を、生まれ故郷である日本に移す。
渋谷7th FLOOR, Take Off 7、恵比寿 Live Gate 等、東京都内を中心に活動。
ライブ活動のみならず、最近では、ユニクロのクリスマスCM、映画「ホノカアボーイ」のCM、パナソニックのエアコンCM等で、歌声を聴いたことのある人も多いだろう。
そして、MONKEY MAJIKのメンバーMaynardのソロ・プロジェクトであるblanc.の、2009年6月10日にリリースされる2nd アルバム "canvas"に、コラボ曲が収録。
この日本という地でますます活動の幅を広げていくsayuleeに、これからも目が離せない。
