Well, they say a true artist is inspired by everything he or she experiences. We'd be here forever if I went there but here's a small list of those who I feel have influenced me with their music for the better: **Pioneers**:
Grand Master Flash & The Furious Five- "Don't push me, cause I'm close to the, edge. I'm trying, not to lose my head, huh-huh-huh-huh!" Yo that was the first rap cut that I EVER heard. Loved it immediately!
Run DMC- "My Adidas!" "Peter Piper Picked A Pepper And Run Rocked Rhymes", "Who's House?...Run's House", LL Cool J, etc, etc. All of rap owes a huge debt to these cats for showing that rap music wasn't just some passing fad...we owe a lot to artists like these and business men like Russell Simmons that pushed the rap agenda to the forefront. **Rhythm & Blues/Jazz/Soul/Reggae, (Legends)**: Bob Marley, Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye, Coltrane, Dizzy Gillespie, Donald Byrd, Sonny Rollins, James Brown, Michael Jackson (& the Jackson Five...don't front), **Contemporaries**: Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Common, The Roots, Amel Larrieaux, De La Soul, Brand New Heavies, Talib Kweli, NO ID, Pete Rock, JD (R.I.P.), Jazzy Jeff, KRS ONE, Rakim, Chuck D/Public Enemy, Eric Roberson, Lizz Fields, Sweet Back, DJ Premier, Diamond D, A Tribe Called Quest, Main Source, Brand Nubians, Poor Righteous Teachas, Ed OG, Chub Rock, Big Daddy Kane, Nas (Illmatic), Jay-Z (Reasonable Doubt), Kanye West, Heiroglyphics, Black Moon, Helta Skelta, Cocoa Brovaz, Boot Camp Click, Harvey AllBangaz, Hula, Dejion, Azza, Tye Hill, DJ Thunder, K. Fox, and last but most important...the Most High...
Sounds Like
A breath of fresh air...or to be more exact...Huey from the Boondocks meets Musiq Soulchild for a studio jam session with the Brand New Heavies!!!

A refreshing blend of hip-hop with influences from soul, jazz, rock and R&B, SB's music convincingly takes hip-hop to a new plateau. Named "One of Chicago's Ten Hottest Acts" by the Chicago Tribune, his music signals a much needed change in contemporary content. He has successfully garnered airplay from core commercial radio stations such as New York's 107.5 FM (WBLS), Chicago's 107.5 FM (WGCI) and 92.3 FM (Power 92) without any of the profanity and vulgarity that is prevalent in the genre today. Focusing instead on producing quality music with substance, his songs have been featured on numerous college radio stations and mixtape compilations in the U.S. and abroad. A feature on the FREE Magazine mix CD has extended his fanbase to include followers in London, and Johannesburg, South Africa. He has also been featured as a musical guest on a nationwide broadcast of the WGN Morning show and appeared as a performer on the FOX and NBC evening news. Currently completing his highly anticipated debut album, "Revolusean", and working on music for the score and soundtracks for two major feature films, SB is tagged as one to watch in 06'.
