LAST CHANCE RUNAROUND would like you to know two things right off the bat: 1) despite all outward appearances, they are NOT a Winter Hours tribute/cover band, and 2) they are evolving; glacially, perhaps, but evolving nonetheless. The band was formed in Atlanta GA out of a love and admiration its members (singer/guitarist Scott Roberts & harpist/singer Sue Volkert) shared for the 1980s New Jersey-based jangle-pop band Winter Hours, and, in particular, their late lead singer/lyricist Joseph Marques. What began as the recording of a one-off 3-song EP as a Chritmas gift for Joseph's parents in 2005 has become an artistic springboard for their own original music. One song from that rare afore-mentioned EP, "Here Without You" (a Byrds song penned by Gene Clark), is presented here, along with the Winter Hours cover, "At a Turtle's Pace" (which appears on the 2-CD Winter Hours tribute A Few Uneven Rhymes; see the myspace page at myspace.com/afewunevenrhymes), and two LCR originals, "The Sun Came Down" and "Younger Than I've Ever Been" from their just released debut full-length CD, Alter Idem. Check here for updates! In the meantime, please visit these two sites featuring other Scott-neglected musical projects: 1) Lost Weekend, and some additional musical history (myspace.com/scottrobertsmusic); 2) The Crosstie Walkers (crosstiewalkers.com). Also, continue to hold your collective breath for his career-retrospective, 5-CD box set, Heretofore, to hit the streets sometime shortly before his death.
