Influences
My favorite band of all time is Led Zeppelin. Some of my guitar heros include: Joe Satriani, Brian Setzer, Steve Vai, Steve Stevens, Steve Morse, Blues Saraceno, Danny Gatton, Eric Johnson, Andy Timmons, Brian May and tons of others. One of my favorite bands that never got any attention is Brother Cane. Lead singer, Damon Johnson has one of the coolest voices out there. I also dig Scott Weiland as a vocalst as well as Chris Cornell.
Vertigo is the name of a band I was in many years ago in my home town of Phoenix, AZ. We released an unmemorable self-titled CD and that's what got me into recording. When I left that band, my next project was a guitar instrumental disc. It was so much fun and took a couple years to finish, mostly due to life interruptions. I played all the instruments and used a drum machine. It was quite the labor of love.
So I started writing new material which would eventually become the Aural Hygiene album. I love the play on words. Most of the songs were written while I lived in Austin, TX. My friend Mike recorded the drums for me just in time to move back to Seattle.
From there, I re-tracked all the guitars, bass and vocals. My intent was to find a proper lead singer but I never ended up finding one that I liked. I really wanted to release the CD so I put up a disclaimer about the vocals on these tracks. I think I did a decent job but my skills are suited to playing guitar and maybe backup vocals..
Recently, I went back to my instrumental album titled Lucky Numbers and asked Mike to track real drums in place of the drum machine. He did a fantastic job and I remixed the album, my first big project in Pro Tools.
I've been playing guitar since high school. My favorite guitars are my PRS's, Gibson's, Fender's and Gretsch. My amp is a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier - I call it the Punisher. You can see most of my gear in the pictures section.
