Born and bred in the northwest, Scott Ryan spent his early years in eastern Washington before moving to Salem, Oregon in 1996. Surrounded by a musical family, Scott Ryan learned to sing by performing with his father, a minor musical celebrity in the northwest, and made music with his siblings from an early age. After picking up a guitar and playing in several bands around the Salem music scene for a few years, he moved to southern California to attend college and began to write and record songs as a solo artist. Once rooted in Los Angeles, Scott was approached to score the acclaimed short film, "Punky" and soon after, he recorded and independently circulated his first single, "Buried." The full-length, indie debut, "The Coldest Room in the House," was released in April of 2008, and a short tour of the west coast followed in June. Over the last several years, Scott has journeyed into new territories, sharing the stage with acts like Gosling, Josh Ritter and the Helio Sequence, while exploring new musical ideas and directions. Now poised for his newest release, the "Tree Man EP," Scott Ryan is on the brink of an artistic breakthrough for singer/songwriters everywhere. Littered with moments of transcendence both quiet and bombastic, Scott Ryan merges tradition and inventiveness on “Tree Man,” which delves into some dense and very disparate sonic territory. Themes of alienation, narcissism, and loss are pervasive, but the songs hold on to an underlying sense of hope like the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel. With a sophisticated and literate lyrical style, and eclectic influences ranging from Johnny Cash to the Talking Heads, Scott Ryan's songs continue to embody the evolution of inspiration through the universal language of music.

"Whether he’s armed with a full rock band or just a six-string and a broken heart, Ryan’s songs – teeming with tales of disaffection and defeat – are all densely layered works of art."
~DOA
"It's been awhile since I've been able to review an artist who is a definite crooner and Scott Ryan happens to be just that. His eloquent word choice and sophisticated blend of genres (mostly indie, folk, and pop) come together brilliantly in his first full-length album, The Coldest Room in the House."
~Pop Wreckoning
"...an indie, folk-rock work of genius that combines influences from Johnny Cash to Beck. From the strong, solid beats of "Tiny Soldiers" to the banjo strings of "Snowfall In My Mind," Scott Ryan keeps the audience guessing his next move."

I saw mike dyer and he mentioned you had shows coming up. Definitely coming out for your santa ana gig! it's always great seeing you play and catching up. Hope you're doing great!
Here's "Tree Man" from the Kennewick show....also in High Definition, hit the HD button and full screen it. Great Show Scott, hope to see you back sometime! -Andrew
Yeah, I did film some of your set on two cameras. This is actually only the second time I've done that. The rear view I don't think was the best angle but the sound from it might be much better (not clipped or over driven). I'll definitely put something up. It's always my intention to get at least one song up from everyone who plays but unfortunately I'm kind of a control freak about putting up video up that looks good.....or at least doesn't look totally amature....even through I am. I love Tree Man BTW and it's great that you post set lists. I wish more people would! Hopefully we'll see you back in Kennewick, your very talented. I'll keep in touch....take care. -Andrew
Can I just say I am always blown away at your shows? I swear, "Tiny Soldiers" is my favorite song and I always get so happy to hear it live. =] Great job tonight, Scott! See you at work. =]
