wyoming kind of sucked but kansas city was amazing and SLC wasnt shabby. id say our best show so far was davis though! we have had enough money to get to chicago which is good!
so i'm guessing you'll be back sometime between june 9th and the 18th depending on your shows....how long will you be staying? will you be calling me? to hang? yes? wonderful.
We got signed to an indie label, CFM records!!! It's going great! We got a new drummer and he's kicking butt. Mom told me you were going to France. That's awesome! Well, if I don't see you I better get some pics from France! LOL!
Hey bro! I hope things are going well for you. Can't wait to see you this summer at the new beach house! I'm bringing my acoustic so we can jamb out some tunes!
persuading my classmates that prop 8 is so gay lol haha. you mean theyre coming to visit? i might have another job offer so i might be enjoying a full month of no work...god that would be lovely. just got back from risque and i'm so tired. are things well in santa cruz?
Hey man, I haven't written to you in a while, so I thought I'd say hey. I really dig the new song, by the way. It's a little more restrained than the older stuff, but it's got an awesome chord progression, and the melody's really beautiful as well. I've been meaning to get back to you for awhile about that last message, which I've read several times, but I've been a little out of the loop so I will address it soon. I remember you saying something about collaborating though, and I think that would be awesome. How would you want to try it? Also, my friends Scott and Jordan from Her Land/My Land and CSMC are heading out to California to do some shows. They leave tomorrow, but I think they're playing in early august sometime. You should try to check them out.
hey, not bad i have a show coming up on july 17 but it's more a battle of the bands kind of thing; i'll see if my friend can video tape it and i'll send it your way :)
as for new material, some ideas but none recorde yet since my computer broke down a few days ago; im building a new one and it should be ready soon
but you can only really pull that attitude completely if you've got a fucking huge group of musicians both young and old who are on the same page and own some kind of recording space -- think Saddle Creek). If you want this thing to grow, we're going to have to organize it a little. Say we start posting the gigs of the members on the ant love page; we ask that when those guys play, they mention the collective (oh and cold spring music collective has a myspace now -- you should get us kids on board) And I'd like to collaborate. how would we swing it? Oh and I almost forgot. How is the album, man?
Well the other album is finished. I pretty much did the rest of what I was going to do when I was in california, and ended up mixing it with blue room and selling the composite at the shows we played in march. I called it 'the mountain is burning and my eyes are covered in sleep.' weighty, i know. now I'm writing quite a few lyrics with a few song ideas to go with them, and that's basically what's posted. But I have like twelve songs in the works i think. More picking and less yelling maybe.
I have, quite frankly, no idea how to expand ant love. I would suggest friending more people on myspace, and also booking gigs that feature its name. In that way it gets both avenues of promotion. We can promote it here, but to tell you the truth, we're having enough trouble trying to promote ourselves, and half the band (my friends adrian and jordan) aren't on myspace. But if I have any solo shows in the near future, I'll definitely talk it up. I'll try out filefactory, but I may want to try selling some stuff soon, so I dont know. I'll email you the new song probably tomorrow. My computer is acting up about sending files via email, so the last two times I tried took forever and I shut the fucker off. but, Scott, my friend. We do not lose all credibility if we sell our souls to the myspace monster because, a) it's not really that easy; we've got to promote and find enough people who seem to be musically interesting or whatever, so that people begin to find us and ASK what our deal is - and b) it can be whatever we want, just a tool for now to get shows, or expose people. I mean, it's free and it helps spread word; it's the kind of promotion that you can rely on if you want to expand the idea of ant love (which I know is reactionary and fuck MTV and garbage and plastic people and asshole politicians and all the fuzzy, scummy bastards who control the souls of those suckers grinding in the wheels of the music industry
We should definitely play a show together! We are going to be coming down through Santa Cruz this summer hopefully. Maybe you can find somewhere to book? I know the Catalyst and that's about it. Keep in touch with us and we will with you, and hopefully we can put something together.
As for the code thing, I have no Idea. Our piano player Bryan did that, so I'd ask him. Just shoot a message at the page with his name as the subject. Thanks for hittin' us up, I love the tunes!
