A drunken, fast ride on "Pirates of the Caribbean" while being chased by highland zombies bent on spilling yer blood.
A 5 - 9 member band, depending on the day. banjo, accordion, guitars, bass drums, percussion, keybored, and for a time, violin and the bagpipes.
Most members yelled backing vocals, while the growling captain commanded the ship and made the audience thrash and sweat with authoritah.
Started by the Captain, R.Tarantino, K.Amdal, Raw-B and Joe-Lo in the desert oasis of Carson City, NV around 1998, Scurvy Bastards thrived until the end of 2003.
There were many, many floor-breaking shows, some at a small record store run by the Captain, as well as loads of performances in CA, NV, OR, and WA.
Some noteworthy dates included playing with: Phantom Limbs, Against Me, Pere Ubu, Wesley Willis (rip), Phenomenauts, Electric eye, Real Mckenzies, Mermen, Teenage Harlots, mcGOB reunion show, Holy Ghost Revival, BloodHag, the Briefs, the Town Dandies, and our old pals, Iron Lung.
Scurvy Bastards live shows were always out of control:::::::

Scurvy Bastards played original pirate compositions, tweaked them, and rocking with dirtied-out-desert punk overtones, sometimes too spooky to be understood. The Bastards ruled the western desert sea-beds, and remain the dirtiest pirates re:?no! will ever see.
SCURVY BASTARD musick going o'er board fills my darkheart with glee.

Date: Sun, 19 Aug 2007 21:02:34 -0700
This email from the DPW: If you are coming out to Black Rock CIty
Hey everyone, I've been on the Playa for 2 weeks now and I just wanted to give some advice to anyone coming out for the event. We have had MAJOR dust storms as the playa is powder fine this year. Of the past 4 days, 3 have had white out dust storms lasting anywhere from a few hours to all day long. All the people coming in will only add to this, so be prepared for some intense weather out here. Bring lots of bandanas, extra goggles, dust proof your tent before you get out here, be prepared for longer set ups and long lines at the gate.
We burned early man last night and the city is really coming together. I can't wait to see everybody! I am camped in the DPW ghetto at 4:20 and Arctic so come and say hi! YAAAAY it is still going to be a great year even if the weather is intense.
Melvin wanted me to tell you that he enjoyed the fresh rap, and he misses you guys. He is really busy eating hot dogs or he would be typing this himself.
Yaaaaarrrrrggggg! I aint stomped nor danced since the last time I danced with you Bastards! As Diamond Dave said: "Where have all the good times gone?" Blaaaaarrrgg!
hey, i'm mandi and i live in frazier park california and i fuckin love you guys. i don't know if you guys remember chris lyons, robbie used to live with him and his mom in reno, but that's my boyfriend and the reason i love you guys. just wanted to let you know that there's a gang of people in frazier who totally respect your music. so keep makin music for all of us here in this mountain town.
