Seeking Sui is a modern progressive rock act hailing from one of the most respected music scenes in the state of Florida,Tallahassee, and is made up of vocals, guitar, bass, drums, cello, and keyboards. After 5 years together of playing, recording, and extensive touring the band is looking to further their aspirations seeking proper representation. As a band, Seeking Sui has been direct support for veteran bands such as:
King’s X, Blind Melon, Alien Ant Farm, Days of the New, The Ataris, Rx Bandits, Rusted Root, Men Women and Children, Petey Pablo, Jimmy’s Chicken Shack
Additionally, the music of Seeking Sui has received continuous radio play on all of Tallahassee’s local rock stations, and on various stations reaching as far as Michigan! Locally the band has received most requested titles with two songs (’Monsters In Green’ and ’Out Of Time’ from their 2006 album release entitled; Two Weeks) and due to the onslaught of fan requests was retired from the request lines with guaranteed rotation on the programs.
Recently the band has recorded a 7 song EP with Brett Hestla of Dark New Day/Virgos Merlot/Creed fame. After meeting at the Florida Music Conference in Orlando and hearing a track off Seeking Sui’s previous record ’Two Weeks’ Hestla took the opportunity to work with the band in creating a powerful and meaningful EP as both recording engineer and producer. As a testament to the band’s work ethic, the entire EP was arranged, produced, and recorded in a mere 7 days in Hestla’s private studio. Having previously filed extensive touring the band is now arranging to return to the wild world of the road with a hot new CD to sell and introduce crowds to a unique brand of the next wave of rock and roll.

There is a vast wasteland of public attention that separates the world of music into the known and the unknown, and the achievement of either is fundamentally decided upon by the eyes and ears of the beholders. We can only seek to achieve the ideals we hold. Enter Seeking Sui: a band engaged in the sole pursuit of exploring that which can link the obvious and the obscure, a sound that boils over the pop-culture cauldron with a mix of reminiscent melody and innovative virtuosity. This sound, this depolarizing engagement, is an exploration in inventiveness and a consideration into the philosophy of all things sui generis. Sui Generis: constituting a class alone. It is an ideal Seeking Sui pursues with absolute adherence. It is a pursuit into the unknown regions of music. It is a set of values, a philosophy, and a dictum embedded within the music of this band. It is the zenith of achievement, and it is the sole musical ambition of Seeking Sui. This notable pursuit requires a cast willing to shoulder such a burden, thus enter the members of Seeking Sui: Jon Gary (guitar), Tony Planas (vocals), Joe DeMerritt (bass), Drew Goodner (drums), and Mark Ford (electric cello, keyboard). It is not as important to know where these individuals hail from, but what they bring to the tenet of Seeking Sui. Jon and Tony, lifelong friends, have spent years developing an ability to engage in each other..s unique ideas and develop concepts that are both reflective and coalescing. Joe and Drew, veritable music veterans, hone the edge of their performance on the ability to play off of every instrument in the ensemble while creating an impacting and captivating rhythm section. Mark, whose musical ability nears true mastery, probes the infinite possibilities created in his virtuosic cello playing and his ingenious keyboard arrangements. There are no pretenses about Seeking Sui; it is in its purest form, an ideal. There are no self-proclamations of grandiose perception, no self-absorbed notions, and no delusions of greatness. Only a desire, an ambition, a phrase to live by: we are seeking sui generis.
