SELFBLIND is a five-headed monster that is ready to tear its' way through the eardrums of incautious listeners. Gathering influences from the american metal scene to scandinavian death and thrash and armed with modern artillery, the band provides accurate strikes into the core of every metal fan.
The group began forming its sound and shape in 2006, when
guitarists Simo Vesterinen, Joose Zanasi and drummer
Antti Hämeranta, all of whom had been playing together
for years, began to gather the missing pieces for their
new arsenal.
The first draft, vocalist Jere Jauho, was quick and
seemingly a no-brainer, as personalities clicked after
the first meetings and the guys liked his voice and
style. This was in September 2006, and Jere found
himself penning lyrics for the band almost right away,
as they were in the final recording stages of their first
release, 'Promo 07'.
The bass player-spot proved out to be a tougher match to
make, so the boys enlisted the help of their fellow
comrade, Neissu from DEAD SHAPE FIGURE for the incoming
bass recordings, as the search for the right four-stringer
continued. Eventually, as the record was completed and
released in January 2007, Neissu extended his duties and
stepped onstage with the guys for the first concert in line.
But, as luck would have it, the band did not have to wait
much longer after that, as in February 2007 they were
contacted by Jukka Vehkamaa, who rose onstage for the
first time already the following month. After a few
weeks Jukka was asked to join the band permanently,
and thus the line-up was completed. Or so it seemed.
After starting the process to write new music, the band
noticed that the direction that they were headed needed a
different kind of guitarist to support Simo's rampage-like riffing.
So in came Asim, replacing Joose in the Selfblind team and
delivering a devastating amount of new energy and shredding
action into the band. This year, the band is set to wreak havoc
like never before. Get ready.
