Sepia
Between Soul and Jazz, theres a colour Sepia
Sepia appeared as a project in 2003, initially being a covers band. Later on, they gave wings to their creativity and travelling through Soul, Funk, Blues and Jazz, born a very unique style.Sepia.
Sepia influences are a reflexion of all black music style, and it shows how four european people are able to mix it with the very best of european tradition.
The band is formed by Isabel Milheiro, born in November 1977 ( lead singer and keyboard ), a singer that inherites from her family the singing tradition. Isabel studied piano and music theory.
David Cid, born in October 1976 ( bass, keyboard and back vocals ), started his musical studies with private piano lessons that went on for five years, until he went to study at the Music Conservatory of Porto. After his studies in the Conservatory, David continued to play piano, but extended his interests to guitar and bass. In Sepia David uses all his knowledge, using several instruments.
Pedro Barbosa, born in July 1983 ( drummer ), was an experient DJ, who knew how to use his skills and rhythm to find his place as a drummer in Sepia.
After recording in February 2005, Sepia went to play in all most important pubs and bars of Porto ( such as B-Flat jazz club ), also playing in several FNAC forum, and other envents, such as the Music Festival of Maia, or in Ermesinde for closing a Book Festival.
They also went, recently, to the finals of the most reputated contest in Portugal, Termmetro Unplugged.
Enjoy!
