Influences
Everything from Old school country to Old school rap. I like it all. Nothing beats good jazz - it's the only thing that encourages me to clean the apartment. Classic rock is great. Jambands are good. Motown makes me warm.
I wish I could've seen Frank Sinatra live, but am glad I caught Metallica at the Allstate and Run DMC at the Tweeter Center. The Super Bowl Shuffle will be sung again. The Rolling Stones have the best business model in Rock n' Roll. Hip-Hop and Emo have become today's disco. Disco music, on the other hand, has stood the test of time.
I'm a screenwriter living in Los Angeles, but music is the purpose for this page. The rest is on a need-to-know basis… feel free to keep reading.
You see, the singer/songwriter shtick paid my way through college and is something I can't turn my back on just yet. More importantly, people still seem to have a genuine interest in what I'm putting down - and that is why I march on.
But don't get too excited. With the exception of weddings, I'm purely a studio musician and have been since my retirement from live performances in 2004. NOTE: The term "live performances" does not include karaoke. I kill that shit. Kill it.
I've done okay for myself in these first 26 years, but satisfaction is a son of a bitch and ultimately leads to complacency. So I remain unhappy. It's a choice I've made. Those who consider themselves happy are probably just sublime, and if you go back about 2008 years you'll discover that the true meaning of sublimity has more to do with visual rhetoric than true happiness or an elevated sense of being.
But please don't consider me a cynic. I'm just determined. I do enjoy life - a lot. I look forward to challenges and plan ahead. I play guitar. I sing. I dance. Sometimes when I play guitar other people sing and dance. Reciprocation is the best form of reassurance and all we can really ask for as human beings.
What else…? I've been in front of the camera a few times, co-produced educational DVDs, had articles featured in a few magazines and even published some overly romantic poetry during my youth. One time I met former Chicago Bull Jud Buechler. That was great.
