Black Sabbath, Blue Cheer, Budgie, old Judas Priest, Flower Travellin Band, 70s Scorpions, Leafhound, Pentagram, Pagan Altar, Sir Lord Baltimore, Wishbone Ash, Satan.
Say there was a heavy rock festival in like '72 where Black Sabbath, Wishbone Ash, the Scorpions, Budgie, and like Cactus are supposed to play, but then, due to a series of plane crashes and natural disasters, only 1 surviving member from each band can make it. In order to calm down the crowd of heavy rockers, Iommi grabs a couple dudes from the other bands and puts together an emergency band. And then Uli Roth says, "We don't need a singer because he'll just get in the way of the riffs." I think that's what Serpent Throne is aiming for. Whether we get there or not is another story, but we'll drink some beer and rip some guitar harmonies along the way.
I remember first hearing the new tracks over at SHP's and thinking out loud "I definitely hear some Maiden in there," to which Dem quickly replied "um no actually, that's Wishbone Ash...close though."
Anyway, sounds great. I like that the drums are mixed a bit drier on the new tracks. Fits the overall sound nicely. Looking forward to playing with you all on the 5th.
PS, I bought a motorcycle yesterday. Ride Satan Ride, indeed.

jail. "at the crossroads" out july 4, sleeping village recs. JULY 4TH SVR PRESENTS....JAIL. At The Crossroads.
Just about to quit just about everything. Philadelphia based JAIL delivers a 5 song E.P. of foot-stompin' hellride, blues injected sludge-oil riffrock. these tres hombres, crushed by the hand of doom (otesanek and syzlak), are on the hunt and in for the kill. finally coming to the light of day... down and out, born too late, and jammin' in the name of suffering. This record is sure to make ya throw yer hair or grow some over your bald spots.
We just read that 'RIDE SATAN RIDE' is going to get a vinyl edition!!! It's great news... but we're a little bummed, because we were thinking of asking you if WE could do it! Lack of Confidence strikes again.
To hear - scratch that - to experience darsombra is to take an astral journey into the depths of an unexplored cave, dark and mysterious, without light as we know it, to float through realms fearful yet fascinating, to be surrounded by blackness. Fusing guitar that drifts by yet scorches, and eerie electronic elements, not to mention disturbing vocals engineered into audio texture, darsombra's music is massively compelling and must be heard. It is the sort of thing you seep into, you experience, you absorb, and which absorbs you. -FishComCollective
crude electro-punk with alternately tottery or throat-ripped vocals and a decent balance between grunting guitars and tittering keys and a constant throb in the background
