Set Aflame formed in the early months of 2004 in the live music
infused Mecca that is Austin, Tx. Initially berthed with
post-hardcore/rock ideals in mind, they began to gain much notoriety
across the city and region due to their catchy vocals and non-stop
harmonized riffs. The band seemed content but something about the
formula was just not right and 2007 would see a lot of change for them
both musically and lineup wise. They began to outgrow their old skin
and mature into a style of music that was more reminiscent of their
upbringings, beliefs, and culture: southern metal.
After the addition of guitarists Patrick Marlow, Ian Archer and bassist Davey Pebworth,
the amalgamation of new material began to rapidly surpass anything
that the band had previously written. With the new line-up locked in
and fresh material on the table, they knew they had made the right
jump in all respects.
Debuting the new sound in February of 2008, Set Aflame was met with
rave reviews by friends, family, and most importantly the fans. Their
sound is continually evolving with each new song they write, and their
stage presence and live show is unparalleled. Catch their debut EP,
“Hell to the Chief” on iTunes today and stay tuned for the release of
their full length in 2009.
