Animal Testing 101 http://www. stopanimaltests. com/animalTesting101. asp?c=sat0113g&gclid=CNX7vJGxopUCFQvWugodZzN4kQ Ask the experimenters why they experiment on animals, and the answer is: 'Because the animals are like us.' Ask the experimenters why it is morally OK to experiment on animals, and the answer is: 'Because the animals are not like us.' Animal experimentation rests on a logical contradiction." -Professor Charles R. Magel
As many as 115 million animals are experimented on and killed in laboratories in the U.S. every year. Much of the experimentation-including pumping chemicals into rats' stomachs, hacking muscle tissue from dogs' thighs, and putting baby monkeys in isolation chambers far from their mothers-is paid for by you, the American taxpayer and consumer, yet you can't visit a laboratory and see how the government has spent your money. You can't even get an accurate count on the number of animals killed every year because experimenters and the government have decided that mice and rats and certain other animals don't even have to be counted.
Animal experimentation is a multibillion-dollar industry fueled by massive public funding and involving a complex web of corporate, government, and university laboratories, cage and food manufacturers, and animal breeders, dealers, and transporters. The industry and its people profit because animals, who cannot defend themselves against abuse, are legally imprisoned and exploited.
Fortunately for animals in laboratories, there are people who care. Some of them work in labs, and when they witness abuse, they call PETA. Thanks to these courageous whistleblowers, PETA's undercover investigators and caseworkers, who sift through reams of scientific and government documents, have exposed what goes on behind laboratory doors.
KEEP YOUR VOICES STRONG MY NEW FRIENDS! THEY WILL BE HEARD.... THANK YOU FOR EXCEPTING MY FRIENDSHIP! ALWAYS FOR THE ONES THAT CAN'T SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES!
Every year between September and April thousands of small whales and dolphins are brutally killed off the shores of the Japanese coastal towns of Taiji and Futo. In what are known as “drive” hunts, fishermen in these towns drive pods of dolphins towards shore and kill them using crude, inhumane methods.
Every aspect of these hunts is extremely cruel, from the exhausting drive from the open ocean that can separate family groups, to confinement in a netted cove where the dolphins are trapped and stabbed. Some young dolphins are spared this terrible fate, only to be sold into captivity - they spend the rest of their lives in small tanks in aquariums and marine parks where they are used for public display.
Government authorities in Japan know that the world will not tolerate the killing of these beautiful animals, and they go to great lengths to hide these hunts from public view. Fishermen even put up tarps behind which the dolphins are slaughtered, and people are barred from filming and photographing the bloody hunts.
Take Action
Urge the Japanese government to stop these cruel dolphin drive hunts immediately. Let the Japanese government know that they cannot hide these inhumane hunts from the public, and join the growing global community in calling for an end to these hunts.
Following a lengthy police investigation and an 18-week trial costing over £4.5 million, Sean, the operator of a website criticising animal testing company Sequani, has been jailed for four and a half years because they believe he is the organiser of demonstrations, even though he has never used illegal tactics as part of the campaign.
