Central Coast group Shadowmill have proven to be mainstayers in the Australian alternative and metal scene performing countless headlining and support shows. The band has been working up to the release of their debut album in late 2008 and riding on the success of their recent live shows. Preview releases of Shadowmill's new music has seen them chart heavily on many music sites, becoming the number 1 Alternative, Heavy Rock and Metal band on mp3.com.au*. Recently the band has been announced as finalists in the Heavy Rock catergory of the ABC Newcastle Music Awards and have also donated their time to worthy causes such as performing at a fundraising concert for World Vision's 40 Hour Famine.
First entering the scene in 2003, Shadowmill unleashed their debut EP "The Macabre Theorem" and played live shows for the following two years in support of the release.
In 2006 Shadowmill took a break from gigging to head back into the studio to write new material and polish older songs. Early 2007 saw Shadowmill hit the recording studio, commencing tracking of 22 original songs. The new material sees Shadowmill diversify to include a wider range of instruments and musical styles while maintaining the combination of a solid rhythmic base layered with melody and atmosphere.
This year Shadowmill have debuted their new material in a number of headlining and support shows while continuing to record, working towards the release of two full length albums. The first of these is expected to be released late 2008.
