Shake A Tail is excited to announce that we have found a new permanent home! Starting January 12th, we're going to be at Clinton's Tavern (693 Bloor St. W. @ Christie subway) every single Saturday night!!! See you there, huh?
I am a fun 60s dance party in Toronto. I have been alive since August 2005. Here are things people have said about me:
Y'make me Shake
Stopped by Stones Place Saturday night to check out Shake A Tail , a 60s dance party that's gone from being a popular monthly at the Boat to an even more popular bi-weekly party at its current home. It's always a little odd to see a room of 20-somethings going nuts for music recorded 40 years ago, but the dance floor is full and the kids are coming out, so they must be doing something right. The sound is somewhat like some mod parties, but it's less Britcentric and more open musically. You can hear old R&B, psych rock, soul and pop throughout the evening, and there's a pretty good balance between "golden oldies" hits and dusty obscurities.
The move to Stones Place suits Shake A Tail -- it's one of the few regular parties at this bar where the Rolling Stones memorabilia actually makes sense, and extra space makes it easier to satisfy both the dancing maniacs and those who want to sit and socialize.

Shake A Tail
Fun is the name of the game at Shake a Tail, a monthly dance party that's been going strong 'n' steady since August. Devoting themselves to music from the early '60s through early '70s, DJs Aaron Knight, Jessie Foster and Mike and Terrance Balazo offer a mix of rock, pop, soul, funk, ska and psych. They're talking "The Hollies to Otis Redding to Mashmakhan," says Knight, adding, "I think we're the only night in town that plays Gary Puckett." If that sounds a little niche-market, the grinning, ever-growing crowds might suggest otherwise, and the Shake a Tail folks are very open to requests (hit 'em up at shakeatail@hotmail.com). This is your last chance to dance with them at The Boat as the crew takes up new digs at Stone's Place come February.
