THE DISTRACTIONS are an irish band about to release their first
single KITES (july 09) from their debut album titled RADIO FRICTION
(distraction music/rmg)sept 09.
Hailing from Waterford,
Shane Barry has created one of the freshest and skillfully crafted
debut albums to appear out of these shores in recent years.
If you can imagine ORANGE JUICE playing the songs of JOE STRUMMER
then you wouldn't be far off. The album RADIO FRICTION was
itself mastered by STUART HAWKES of AMY WINEHOUSE fame and produced
by Barry.
The distractions combine tight rhythms with a killer brass
section, leaving just the right amount of space for Barry's very
distinctive voice and guitar playing, PAUL WESTERBURG would spring
to mind on first listen.
This is just an introduction to Shane and the Distractions ,who are
currently in the middle of an Irish tour to promote their new split
vinyl only 7' release A MAN CALLED GERALD on primate records and

Shane Barry and the Distractions are recently back from the u.k
where a distribution deal has been secured with black feathers records
with licensing secured for spain/france/japan and a full release, European tour scheduled for sep onwards.
This is definitely the best Chinese pop I've ever heard:) Really enjoying your music, like that you've got horns. Hope you're all well and perhaps we'll get to see you when we come over in December.
