Welcome to the official MySpace Page for Shannon Stephens, a singer/songwriter living in Seattle, WA,
After many years of pseudo-retirement, the long wait for Shannon Stephens’ second solo album is coming to an end.
“The Breadwinner”, due out in September 2009, is a beautiful testament to Shannon’s love for her husband, daughter, garden and planet.
The former singer and co-songwriter for the Michigan-based band Marzuki, (with Matt Haseltine, Sufjan Stevens and Jamie Kempkers), Shannon embarked on a solo career in 1999 when she recorded a demo ("How I Got Away") and a self-titled album. Then Shannon moved to Seattle, where she had the pleasure of working with artists such as Rosie Thomas, Damien Jurado, Denison Witmer and others. She soon burned out on the mu..sic scene and has spent the last few years tending to her family and her plants.

Shannon Stephens got the evening moving with her gracious vocals and acoustic guitar. She hadn’t played music for about 10 years and currently released a new album. As she said “this is the best audience I have had in like 10 years!” She has soft vocals and a warm feeling on stage, very pleasant to listen to. Shannon was bouncing in between morbid and worshipful, morbid and worshipful and when we arrived she picked morbid for the next song.
Uhhhhgh! Im sooo stupid. This drives me crazy, I guess its too late for me to send you guitar tracks to the songs you sent me, what was it, 200 months ago? I am pulling out all my nose hairs one at a time till you come to NY - i think the pain is appropriate.
Hey you! We are going to be on Cbs's "Better Connecticut" this friday!!! then the day after we are playing in Westport, Ct with Sherwood. Come check our new music out as well! Thanks for all your time and support.
Love your music..!! I just released an EP called The View and was wondering what you guys thought of the tunes and what advice you would have for me starting out and all. I have only been up at Myspace for like 5 weeks and have to for sure overhaul my website !
Congratulations on the release of the CD, Shannon. Great work -- and kudos to all involved in making the record. My copy should be on it's way...can't wait!
I never really heard your first album, just the downloads on the AK page, but whether or not the music on here is new, I like it. A lot. It lets me stop. Just stop trying. It's just a being, and a realization of the molecules in my body that were born from the stars.
