Playing drums, spending quality time with family and friends, Internet, dining out, and at this point spending all the time I can building my rehearsal studio. I've also recently taken up tennis again.Music
Mostly progressive metal, but sometimes contemporary jazz, ambient, and new age if it fits. Favorites include prog metal genre defining Dream Theater, Fates Warning, Queensrÿche, San Francisco Bay Area based prog rockers Enchant (who are the nicest, friendliest, most hospitable, and most genuine group of guys you can ever hope to come across!), Kamelot, Metallica (just their stuff from back in the '80s), Evanescence, Depeche Mode, Kansas, up-and-comers 3 from Woodstock, Symphony X, the extremely talented and equally extremely underrated Redemption, an awesome group out of Germany called Sieges Even, Norweigan prog metal rockers Circus Maximus, and UK-based Threshold.Movies
Dramas, comedies, foreign. Fair warning: I can recite most of "Office Space" and "Airplane!" I've decided that even though I like movies, I've come to hate "going OUT to the movies. People are so friggin' rude and disrespectful. Last time I went to the theater with my wife and parents, I tolerated the ill-behaved obnoxious runt sitting behind us and smacking our seatbacks for an hour or so, after which I finally turned around and sternly but respectfully told him to knock it off, and then his (presumably) father threatened me! That was it for me. Why should I pay outrageous amounts of money for bad popcorn, flat sodas, an uncomfortable seat, and a sticky floor, when I can have a superior experience at home on my recliner sofa and big screen TV? Can I get an "Amen, brother" on that?!Television
Books
Newspapers, technology magazines, and other non-fiction stuff. I generally don't read fiction.Heroes
Musically speaking, one of the best (if not the best) drummers in the world, Mike Portnoy, and the rest of Dream Theater!

About me:
Sincere, childfree, mostly libertarian views, moderately highly sensitive person (HSP), gleefully married to an extreme HSP with a houseful of critters (6 cats, 3 chinchillas, and a rabbit), and very much NOT a man of few words! I play drums and I'm currently building a soundproof room in my garage so that I can jam anytime and not bother anyone. It's an insane amount of work.
Who I'd like to meet:
My wife and I keep a small circle of close friends, most of whom are also HSP and childfree, although we don't discriminate. If you have something in common with me or would otherwise like to drop me a line, please do! However, I will decline all "blind requests" to be added as a friend. (I'm not a "friend collector.") I also tend to keep my "friends" list pared down to people I have met or personally (or at least interacted with online).Details

Hi Keith!
It has been a while! I've procrastinated in changing from dial-up to something faster, so I'm not online very often or for very long.
June 27th...Enchant...daughter's 20th birthday... Time with my daughter won out and we had a blast on her birthday! She got her first tattoo, to honor her father who died a few years ago. To paraphrase a lovely song...we don't do sadness, so it was a very happy day.
Maybe my lousy internet connection is not the only reason I haven't checked into coverage of the show...still not ready to see what I missed!
I'm sure you all had a great time--you know how much I wanted to be there!
I hope all is well with you, and that I see you at a show soon.
Regards,
Kristin

yea it was a lot of fun!
I want to do it again...so if you ever get up the nerve or if Jennifer wants to go, let me know! hehe
Well I did fly over the freeway for a while, but we did our jump early, at like 9am. =o) There were a lot of people there to jump though. And there were some people that were practicing for competitions which was really cool too. I can't believe I finally did it, but I would love to do it again!
Hi Keith!
Long time, etc...! I didn't want to post my sad story on the Enchant forum. My daughter's 20th birthday is June 27th. We thought we could see Enchant together, but it's a 21+ club. :( So...I'm not sure if I'm going or not. My kid is telling me to go because she knows how I am about Enchant...maybe I should listen to my smart little girl! I'll let you know if I'll be @ your five o'clock again!

Breaking news! Odin’s Court has just signed to ProgRock Records! Story here: http://www.progrockrecords.com/press/view.php?id=87
You can preorder the new CD Deathanity as of today. http://www.progrockrecords.com/shop/view.php?id=158
Deathanity is the latest effort from Odin’s Court, a Maryland, USA band. Deathanity is an ambitious concept album dealing with the effects mankind’s actions are having on the planet. Alternate views are offered through the use of instrumentation, lyrics, sound effects, and various vocal clips. Ambience, dynamics, and soul are combined with complexity, groove, and energy in a song oriented structure, to create a unique, surreal landscape. Each song, dealing with a different theme, is accompanied by a newly created word and definition in the album art. Special guest vocalists include Tom Englund (Evergrey) and Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica).
