Sheath, what's the philosophy meaning behind it? The question is often asked, but it was a long story to tell. Take it simply, it could be self control of any kind emotions such as happiness, sadness and anger from all band members. The output is reflected to the most sheath's songs and lyrics.
The first step is begun by Oky (vocals, keyboards, guitars), while he was just got bored with his joblessness in his room in Bandung. His loneliness made him got million moods to make some cool songs without any pressures. He could feel that those materials were good enough to be heard. Until he called Hantoro (guitars), his high school friend in Surabaya, to help him to record those songs.
Vanco, a mastermind from a band called Lull, helped them as an additional drummer in the album recording. Unspoken Word was taken as the title of they first album. It was because Oky's unwritten lyrics and spontaneous singing that have been recorded during his voice taking. This album was produced in very limited numbers, 100 copies, but they got good critics from his friends, magz, and radios. It was beyond imagination.
Just before the materials making of the upcoming album, Sheath added Epi as the second guitarist and Ghamtha as the bassist, with Dani as additional drummer. At December 2003 they were back to record the second album that contains 12 songs. The title for the album is Temporary Happiness that means so much life philosophies.
The new formation for this album (that's going to be released soon), Sheath's just got better in the songs arrangements, sounds, and lyrics. Epi took all the lyrics writing. It seems that the band got a part of puzzle that's lost before. A lot of variation themes and influences were transformed to this upcoming album that made it just better and deeper. Each song in this album will take you to different situation, like a gate to another world that makes you feel simply relax, sad, happy, and any other emotions.
In the middle of the album recording, Hantoro the formed guitarist left the band to continue study sound engineering to Germany. He did guitars in 6 rocky songs. Pre-mastered demo that was spreaded to some close relations just got better responses than the first album.
Temporary Happiness tells you stories about the lowest line of human's condition. It sounds like sadness, hesitations, and desperations in the beginning than ended by happiness, hopeful, and optimistic in the end of each song. Their free singles that contain Surgeon of a pleasant dream, It's not goodbye, Lee Lou. were free given away in every their gig.
