Redneck started in May '07, born from a good amount of drunk pub talk from RC Hobson (the unmistakable UK voice of the Dirty South, likened to Phil Anselmo, but completely on his own) and his metronomic best mate Kyle Vine (on the double kicks and cracking his symbals). We luckily overheard shred legend Tom Rudkin in a Sound Control store playing like literally nothing we'd ever heard and immediately gained his skills; soon we recruited the newest member of the family Kon Hall supplying the rib-breaking Southern Muddy Heaviness and Dimebag-esque pinches and wails, who's skills we need to work fully; to finally give us the opportunity of becoming something to make the UK's Southern Metal scene stand up to the world.
We've only been really running since the end of June, but we've just recorded our first studio demo '80proof.'
and people seem to fuckin love it,
so watch this space, cause Redneck are gon' give the UK something to stand upto USAs giants BLS and Down and have a fuck load o' fun doing it!
For a metal band Redneck are surprisingly tuneful filtering
the thrust and grind of guitars with precise clarity and delivered
with such pace the strings must be smoking. Where
many metal bands have a forty a day Ducados smoker on
vocals, Redneck frontman does not distort the lyrics with
over zealous grunting.
Opening track 'Been Out Drinking,' throws up thought provoking
lyrics with fast-flash guitar pickings crawling along
the fret board like a spider scuttling to safety.
'Smoke and Loneliness,' slows the pace and kicks out a screeching guitar
cadenza that will hold you spellbound, instilled with
drama and passion whereas final enigma 'Outlaw' returns
to the angst ridden debauchery, fuelled with the grind and
throb of power chords and scorching riffs.
Even if you're not into metal, but like the power based
grind of guitars you will not find Redneck offensive.
