Shellac Shack is a weekly 78 rpm listening party in San Francisco with your host DJ Chas Gaudí. A heavy mix of blues, jazz, R & B, country and early rock n roll with a sprinkling of gospel, Hawaiian and doo wop- all on the incredible sounding twin Califone turntables.
Launched in July, 2004 as a monthly night at Tony Nik's in North Beach (inspired by Slimm Buick who used to spin 78s at Club Deluxe in the early 90s), the Shack is now shaking weekly in the Mission District.
Shellac Shack happens every Monday at The Homestead, 2301 Folsom St. @ 19th from 7PM to Midnight (last hour is a 45 Party with mod, soul and lowrider sounds). I'll be posting my other DJ gigs and film events here as well...
Shellac Shack is available for private events, parties and hep weddings anywhere in the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to 78s, I also specialize in 60s soul/mod/pop, 70s & 80s indie/new wave/punk, 50s & 60s country/rockabilly, and modern jazz.
