Once upon a time there was a little girl who loved to make people laugh...
Shelly Ryan was born in the kingdom of Minneapolis. After being enlightened by great literature (okay, storybook tales), she developed a vivid imagination. Being an only child this trait was useful, although her parents never determined how many imaginary siblings Shelly had.
Children eventually have to decide what they want to be when they grow up. Not easy when your role models give conflicting messages. Could a happy medium exist between innocent fairy tale princess and buxom fashion model? Shelly thought this incongruity was funny!
By high school Shelly realized a sense of humor was more than entertaining; it was therapeutic! This marching band nerd (who stayed home cleaning the fireplace waiting for Prince Charming to show up) spent a lot of weekends with Saturday Night Live and Monty Python.
Inspired by great sketch comedy, Shelly began her adventure in 2004 by joining other writers at SketchWorks, where two of her scripts were produced in a showcase. She also co-wrote a piece that appeared as the closing act in one of their main stage performances.
After graduating from Funny Farm University in 2005, Shelly’s appeared at several Atlanta comedy clubs and emceed for a variety of events. Her closest brush with fame was Nickelodeon at Nite’s "Funniest Mom Contest." But don’t let the mild-mannered, middle-aged mom persona fool you!
Shelly’s comedy has been enjoyed world-wide on live streaming radio. In addition to numerous guest appearances and co-hosting gigs, she produced a virtual comedy cabaret and hosted her own variety talk show. She regularly observes the absurdities of life and is a prolific blogger.
Shelly considers herself to be a late bloomer rapidly making up for lost time. Her mission: to make the world a better place by spreading the universal language of laughter. She shares her own fairy tale in her CDs "Shelly Ryan: Seriously Weird!" and “Shelly’s Nursery Rhymes: The REST of the Story…”
...and everyone laughed happily ever after!

Influences
Story-teller Bill Cosby, observationalist George Carlin, energetic Robin Williams and all-time favorite, Gilda Radner, whose spirit and spontaneous style lives on and inspires Shelly’s comedy.
She owes an ENORMOUS thanks to Monty Python’s Flying Circus and Saturday Night Live. The humor from these TV shows helped lift the spirits of a marching band nerd whose weekends were not filled with dates and other social activities. And now Shelly’s returning that favor by lifting the spirits of others through sharing her eclectic style of humor.
And who can forget this superhero chick who looks like a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen?

TV Shows
RADIO Appearances:
Shelly was a guest on Ralph Vincent’s debut Underground Comedy Show discussing the impact of the Internet on the comedy industry.
She was also honored to be interviewed on The Dre’ Parker Show. This energetic comedian’s guests have included Last Comic Standing icons!
Shelly’s also been heard all over the world on:
Idiotboxradio, a podcast from Australia where they said, "She has a nice American voice that has the tone of sounding funny even if she doesn’t say anything funny."
IT Radio in St. Paul (the evil Twin City of Minneapolis, where Shelly was born and raised).
Small world, because Gary Holdsteady heard Shelly on IT and included her comedy audio clip on his show.
After sharing mp3 files and offering to bring more comedic talent to BZoO HomeGrown Radio, Shelly produced Red Brick Cabaret, a weekend virtual comedy club.
She continued to share the laughter every week as hostess of her own variety talk show, Shelly Ryan Late Night with comedy, music and more!
Quiet on the Set!, striving to bring you the best entertainment, is proud to announce that Shelly Ryan has agreed to do a weekly pre-recorded segment, "Seriously Weird! News" on our show!

Shelly Ryan's Interests
General
The usual "mom" stuff: Hockey (never believed in "time out"...when my kid acted up he went straight to the penalty box), PTA (got one of those bumper stickers bragging about my kid...the one who's on "Detention Roll"). Getting together with friends and behaving as silly as possible.
ALL forms of comedy, writing as often as I can, music, travel, and laundry (not at all interesting but a necessity).
I especially enjoy trips to the dry cleaners!
Supporting important causes such as this one:
Music
My MP3 player has an eclectic mix of tunes: acoustic, classical, classic rock, Latin...what I listen to depends on my mood and what part of my soul needs to be stirred. I support Indie artists because they are the heart and soul of the industry.
Here's a trilogy of music videos that are my 'theme songs':
Movies
Anything by Monty Python; Bringin' Down the House, Weekend at Bernie's, Grumpy Old Men, Foul Play, Mrs. Doubtfire, Stripes, Airplane! and most Adam Sandler films. I'm a hopeless romantic...but have a saracstic edge when it comes to love, so I identify with this tribute:
Television
Don't watch that much, but enjoy vintage SNL, adored Monty Python's Flying Circus, and Whose Line is it Anyway. Missed Sex and the City in its heyday because we're too cheap to get premium channels. Anybody know how "Mr. Big" got his nickname?
Books
Monty Python: All the Words, Sweet Potato Queens (various), Dave Barry (all of them), Hockey for Dummies, and books on the art of comedy writing and performing. And I can't forget my vintage collection by cartoonist Charles Schultz!
Heroes
My parents, who raised me to have a healthy sense of humor. My children, the apples of my eye (who haven't fallen far from the tree). My friends, many of whom are just as busy as I am but are always there for laughs and margaritas. And everyone else who keeps my sense of humor going on those days when things aren't always that funny.

About me: Shelly's a late bloomer making up for lost time. She's finally going global with sharing the greatest gift God gave her... her sense of humor. Laughter is truly therapeutic, and her mission is to help you lead a happier, healthier life. Don't let the mild-mannered, middle-aged mom persona fool you. Her mantra is "If you obey all the rules you miss all the fun" -- and this Atlanta writer and comedian never misses the fun!
My best feature? My two big...
Haha! I'm not a prude, but sorry guys, this is NOT a freakin' peep show. You want to see cleavage? Google "Grand Canyon".
I'm speaking of my big...BROWN EYES! And according to one of those wacky MySpace quizzes, here's what's behind the windows to my soul:
Either sexy as heck or are adorable. Loves to make new friends. Their relationship tends to be very honest because if they aren't truly in love, then the relationship won't work. They fall easily for their best friends. Will do anything for that special person. Kind and polite. Enjoys being with their guy. LOVES to party. Can make ANYONE laugh or cheer them up. Loves to please the one they care for or love. Is NOT THE PERSON YOU WANT TO PISS OFF!! Great Kisser.
GET YOUR MOTOR RUNNIN'... Flip Side to Music would like to announce a new member joining our staff! Shelly Ryan will be sharing with all our readers her hilarious comedy as we journey down the HUMOR HIGHWAY with her each month! Welcome Shelly!

“My Cat.”
“My cat leaps around the garden fence Pouncing on anything that moves There’s no defence Sleeps for hours and sometimes days Bathing in the summer rays Hibernating in the winter cold Prowling, howelling meowing so bold My cat is quick, sleek, reactions unique If I ever return as a bird or a mouse then I am going to leave my house When I am due to travel away my cat sulks for days Moody before and then turns his back as I return to the door Feeding him food from a tin Is considered by my feline friend a cardinal sin He sits and looks at me in disgust This is not what I want for my breakfast. “Give me lean chicken, salmon or fresh beluga Or I’ll slash the side of your chair like Freddy Kruger My claws are sharp I will reduce your coat To the texture and look of an old Nanny goat I go to sit in my favourite chair In front of the fire and guess whose there! Asleep in my bed I awake with surprise As a purring nose pokes me straight in the eyes! I now understand the word perfection Is all about my cats affection Even when he wreaks the place I live A look from those saucer green eyes makes me forget and forgive. My cat has a spiritual link, a supernatural perception Something that humans have no connection I can only watch look and admire all of that Oh…I forgot to mention. My cat is An Acrobat.”
Hiya, thanks for being a friend - I enjoyed visiting YourSpace :-) Keep it up May your life be full of love, light and fun... hugs SOREN - Beats for change - NYERTUN
Shelly, THIS IS IT, I have ONE LAST favor to ask you about this, could I? Since, as you might’ve heard, my picture won at the monthly level & Round 1, I got nominated for the LongHair Hawtie of the Year Finals (!) that ends today 7pm New York Time (can you just get it done now?) and... - was hoping for those 6 votes from you ;)
Yeah, you do need to get accepted as a friend of www.MySpace.com/OfficialLongHairHawties before you can vote, but they’re nice girls (the hawtie folks), no harm whatsoever :)
PS. since it would be so cool to win ‘by a landslide’ of like 7-800+ votes OVER and ABOVE over #2 guy (who will give us run for the money, he’s done that before!) - so, an 'evil' thought - maybe you can tell your friends to vote too? ;) Could you ask around?
I want to thank you so much for the smile you have given me everyday just by being my friend. You are very special to me.Hope your day is as special as you are.
Hi Shelly thankyou so much for those words, but it is my absolute honour and privilage to be a part of something that is so important to me....The women in my life. Just returned home after a week down in Melbourne celebrating my parents 60th wedding anniversary...and now I'm ready to get this project up and running. The "awareness" of this project here in Australia is almost non existant so I hope together with our ION'S ODYSSEY we'll bring this to the attention of the women of Australia....and then the world. To another beautiful lady who has entered my life, thankyou so much XOXOXOXO
