Since forming in Los Angeles in 2005, Shields have created a uniquely vivid offshoot of the 1990s’ ‘shoegaze’ sound (My Bloody Valentine, Swervedriver, Ride etc.,) focusing on accessible melody and songcraft rather than burying themselves beneath swirling effects. Always dynamic, Shields juxtapose crystalline lead lines and introspective melodic vocals with vast guitar-drenched barrages of sound fueled by adrenalized drumming. With their live shows becoming infamous wild nights out, Shields stay true to their motto: “We’ll be your new best friends”.

Reviews!
A liquid fuzz-fest a la My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive, their songs manage to capture all of the loud, mod psychedelia of those post-wave, late-eighties pop masterpieces. Ryan Ward (LA Weekly) Click here to read complete review in LA Weekly

"Really enjoyed your set. You guys were the oasis in the desert of mediocrity on that bill. ;)" Dave Segal Music Editor ( OC Weekly)

City Life Picks!
"We'll be your new best friends," boldly proclaims the motto of L.A.'s Shields (likely taking their name from influential My Bloody Valentine front man Kevin Shields). Their instrumental "Espionage" surges with the same vivid spirit and guitar-drenched barrages as Swervedriver. Poizen Ivy Hover (Las Vegas CityLife)

Psyched Up with Shields/
Shields hail from LA and, as you may surmise from their moniker, love My Bloody Valentine’s front genius, Kevin. Consequently, their melodies possess a cotton-candy dulzura that’s spiked with tart, stinging guitar tones.
