  • Bio

    Side by Side is a duo made up of Charlotte Bizot and Fred Bourgaud. Usually Charlotte writes the lyrics while Fred takes care of the music. Then Charlotte sings and Fred plays guitars and all additional instruments. However, it happens that they mix a little bit more their share of the work, since Charlotte is also a guitarist and a songwriter, and Fred a singer. Both of them use to play live music in various bands, mainly singing songs for Charlotte while Fred is a jazz guitarist. Their musical universe is a strange mix of folk, rock and jazz influences for which the headlines could be sensitiveness, energy and dynamics. Charlotte lived for a long time in Paris (Texas), where she used to listen many different kinds of musics around. Fred has lived and played in Latin countries, especially Italy, where he acknowledged the importance of melodic lines in music. ______________________________________ Side by Side, c'est l'histoire d'une collaboration née sur internet entre Charlotte et Fred Une passion commune pour de multiples formes musicales mais qui partagent toutes une origine afro-américaine. La méthode de Side by Side ? Fred envoie des pistes de guitare à Charlotte, accompagnées parfois d'un thème, d'une petite histoire, ou pas ; Charlotte écrit et chante puis renvoit ses pistes à Fred. Deux ou trois échanges de mails et le tout est bouclé assez vite. Le tout à 500km de distance, entre Drôme et Lorraine. Un premier album est maintenant disponible, et des concerts vont suivre très rapidement. Pour la scène, le duo se transformera en quintet (Phil canovas, Jean-Luc Déat, Chris Mariotto) afin de restituer les nuances de la musique de l'album. Chacun d'entre eux participe parallèlement à des groupes, du jazz pour Fred .. (Fred Bourgaud Quartet).., de la chanson française pour Charlotte ..(marmotte et les petits habitants).. et collaborent régulièrement avec d'autres artistes, sur la toile ou dans la vraie vie. ____________________________________

    Well, a lot of. Guess who they are...Let's go for the voices : Janis, Paul, Neil, Rickie, Graham and the other guys of CSNY, Elliot, Nick, Paul, John, Eric, Credence, Stevie, Billie. As far as guitar is concerned, Neil again, John Abercrombie, Bill Frisell, Jimmy Raney, Jim Hall, Kenny Burrell, Barney Kessel, Wes Montgomery, Doug Raney...Then when it comes to music in general, Miles, Charlie, Dexter, a dozen of Johns, Woody, a couple of Joaõs, Caetano, Rosa, Bob, Joan. Sorry for the ones we forgot to mention.
