SIENNÁ is a composer, keyboardist and singer. She was born in Kyoto, Japan. She moved to Norway in 1995 as a graduate student, completed her Master's program in cultural sciences at the University of Bergen in 2004. In the same year, her musical talent was discovered by Norwegian cutting-edge producer Abòn. She could then focus towards her old childhood dreams of music.
The music is "a richly-textured bed of melodic layers, freeform electronica and jazzy flourishes which becomes the deepest house in the galaxy when the groove kicks in (Kris Needs - Update Magazine, UK)". She has been compared to the likes of Yellow Magic Orchestra (Y.M.O.), Goldfrapp, Eat Static and Underworld.
She has released 1 EP “Ambience (2005)” and 1 LP “A pure Land (2008)” to date, and has plans to release the 2nd LP in the spring of 2009. One of her tracks was featured by Philips Electronics, and pre-loaded on Philips MP3 players & audio-devices for worldwide distribution during the year of 2006. It was also demonstrated in stores on a worldwide campaign for Philips recent MP3 product "Go Gear" (see http://www.bentmusic.ca). The UK launch of "A Pure Land" was celebrated at Chinawhite by Piccadilly Circus, London in November 2008.
