A striking voice, penetrating lyrics. Traditional folksongs, seen through the eyes of a young woman. As if time stood still, suddenly there is a singer-songwriter in the world who sounds like flowers, autumn, sandals and wool. This American-Dutch singer with heartbreaking melodies drags you to her own world, where one should watch out for dissonant chords and very high notes.
With an American father and Dutch mother, Signe was never tied to her roots in Holland, and at the age of 15 she moved to England, where she studied classical singing. However, this did not satisfy her passion for music, and somewhat disappointed she attempted a future career in philosophy at the University of Hull. But her singing and guitar playing got in the way of her studies, and when it was quite clear to her that music was what she should have been doing all along, she packed her suitcase and moved to Holland to start studying at the Amsterdam School of Popular Music, part of the Amsterdam Conservatory. Here she studies voice and guitar, with, among others, René van Barneveld (Urban Dance Squad).
In the autumn of 2005 Signe supported Stephen Malkmus (ex-Pavement) a few times in Italy and Germany.
Her debut album is expected this summer.

The first session outside Utrecht or Amsterdam; Marten de Paepe was the reason to travel to Nijmegen. A beautiful city alongside the river the 'Waal'. At the other side of the river, there is the Ooijpolder, where we recorded covers from Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Ane Brun. The session turned out as beautiful as the surroundings.

Wie kent ze niet, singer-songwriters die, na een paar acoorden gespeeld te hebben hun mond open doen en tot verrassing van het publiek in het Nederlands zingen. Tot verrassing ja, want Nederlands is op veel muzikale avonden nog steeds eerder uitzondering dan regel. En dat terwijl het zo mooi kan zijn. Of zou kunnen zijn.
Vandaar bij deze: een avond met uitstekende muzikanten die slechts enkel en alleen liederen ten gehore brengen in het Nederlands. Ja juist, onze moerstaal. Zaterdag 5 Juli in de 'Winston Kingdom', aanstormende singer-songwriters enkel en alleen in onvervalst Hollands. Deuren open: 21:00

Daan Hofman Doet mee aan de 'Grolsch Grote Prijs van Nederland' 2008. Ooit begonnen aan de theaterschool maar is uiteindelijk doorgegroeid tot muzikant met theaterliedjes. In 2004 en 2005 bracht hij met een groep muzikanten, en een grote diversiteit aan instrumenten het liedjesprogramma “Alles Voort!” Sinds September studeert hij jazz aan het Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
