InfluencesSimon's songs blend Anglo-American song-writing traditions with European flavours. Steeped in the romance of travelling they are compelling and poetic, invoking the heat of summer. 'Across the Land' will particularly appeal to people prone to wander-lust and drawn to the Mediterranean sun. Or maybe just nostalgic for their misspent gap year.

ANOTHER REVIEW OF ACROSS THE LAND, BY MUSICIAN MAGAZINE:"ABSORBING ACOUSTIC INGENUITY FROM SKILLED WRITER/SINGER SIMON WHO HAS CRAFTED A CHARMING 13 SONG CLUSTER WHICH ACCENTUATES HIS APPEALING INDIVIDUALITY. HONEST, TUNEFUL AND REFRESHING. SURELY ANOTHER HIT COLLECTION FROM LONGMAN RECORDS".

Review of 'Across the Land' by FATEA (Cambridge Folk Festival): "Simon Stewart's 'Across the Land' has more than a touch on manyana about it. It's filled with images of life spent in the shade with red wine and tapas. The album feels like a tour of the Med in an open top sports car. Wandering along the cost on a journey that's far more important than arriving. Stopping off to sun dry tomatoes, feel the grapes beneath the feet and perhaps pit an olive or two. It's an album that lets the cares go by as responsibility vanishes over the horizon behind you. We all have to escape occasionally and 'Across the Land' is a key to the lock".

Time Out (London) describes his music as "wonderfully melodic, hugely enjoyable stuff". A review from Barking Spider suggests that Simon writes songs "that just cry out to be heard in some smoky bar on the Left-Bank of the Seine".
According to Des de Moor, the London promoter, he "is a brilliant new songwriter with an evocative, smooth but powerful voice and a line in unusual, appealingly melodic, inventive, sometimes dark and always heartfelt songs".

Hello!
I hope everything is great with you!

I just want to let you know that I've started recording a new album, and you can follow the process on my blog:
http://blog. jcschutz. net

I am posting photos and short samples of the unfinished songs, to give everyone that's interested the possibility to follow the creation of a CD, to hear how the songs slightly change until the final result.

My new CD will hopefully be released in september 2008.

Take care, and let me know what you think at:

Hi Simon - really good to see you at the Welly last week. Hope that you had a great Christmas and that people buy the album!!

We're going to have a recording hiatus in the New Year as I need to make some money from music and therefore will be looking for gigs in NY.

Have a very Happy New Year - look forward to seeing you again in 2007
